Humidity in Drying

Hello growers of the world , CG is here:leaf:

i builded a cardboard with vent's to dry in it , and i read that the relative humidity should be between 45%-55% ,
i have only 31 % , and i dont have an option to put a humidifier in there...

will it significant ? there's something i can do ?

I dry mine in an environment that is less than 20% humidity. I hang it for a day then jar it into mason jars that I then burp daily. So far it's worked ok.

It's probably not significant. But if you want to raise RH a good way is to soak a towel with water and hang it up in your chamber.

so you hung it for one day and then put straight to a jar for curing ?

i thought of something with water but i dont have enough room there for actually hang a towel , or even to put a glass of water.

No.

You should dry until crispy with a little bend still to the stem. Around 5 days. Then jar.

If you want to slow down the drying time then leave the leaves on during drying and cut off before curing.

so i'll check wth them in the 5th day... if stem get broke when i bent it that means it dried too much and the moisture gone and i cant cure it ?

It means that you would have to add some moisture. Usually a fresh leaf is capable of adding enough moisture.

Are you hanging branches or buds?

You would be better to hang in branches.

Keep checking after the 3rd day of drying to see how crispy they are.

The branch should be starting to get dry on the part cut from the plant. The very end will start to snap as you pinch it in your fingers.

Depending on the size of your box and what kind of air exchange you have, the humidity will raise quite a bit when the buds go in it. I too have a diy dry box. It is a Rubbermaid container with yarn zig zagged across the top. I put a 4" hole on each end and then attached a computer fan powered by an old cell phone charger cord on one of the holes blowing out. This is then set on a timer to run for 15 minutes every 3 hours. This gives me a nice slow dry for about 7-8 days, then they go into jars and get burped every day for two weeks and then they're dank as hell. Good luck man!!

im hanging the buds from the branches , and the popcorn buds i placed on a net..
im on the 4th day of drying ...

yeah i have two computer fans and one 85m2h venta . and they all run on all the time.

If you can bring down the temperature the RH will go up as cold air can't hold as much water. I dried my first harvest at around 55-65% humidity for 2 weeks, super smooth smoke that tastes like spicy lemons :)
