hey world, just a few quick questions...the humidity in my grow room never goes above 30%....i know 40-60% is recommended, but i cant seem to get it any higher...i even put a large 5 gallon tote of water in there so it can evaporate but that only helped raise it a few percentage points, so i guess im stuck...anything i can do to get this any higher? also, i know that yeast mixed with sugar produces CO2, so is there any cheapo way to make this work in my grow room? i even heard to mist the plants with tonic water to get them more CO2 but i am too scared that will burn them underneath a 1000watt MH light....im completely open for suggestions...any would be greatly appreciated...!

I had the same problem, many others do too.. not too big a deal, and you will definitely want the lower humidity during flowering to reduce chance of pests and problems like budrot.. (some even say that lower humidity equals more resin production.. dont know if i believe that one)... a couple suggestions, u could mist the plants when the lights are off, or hang some damp clothes on a makeshift clothesline in the room, its ghetto but works, raised my humidity by about 10%

I bought the wick for a room humidifier - like a thick paper mesh sort of stuff. It was like an inch thick, a few long and a few high. You can buy these where you would buy a hmidifier. Take a look at the sizes and find what works for you.

I set one of these upright in a small tray of water, and had a fan point at it - basically what an actual humidifer does. It provides a huge surface for evaporation.
If done right, it can integrate into your grow room in very little space.

It would boost mine by 10% or so.

I bought a humidifier from a thrift store for about $2. There was a ton of them there, oldschool ones, but they worked. Try that.

Mine's always around 10-12%, but since flowering I'm not trying to raise it anymore. I was around 50-60% w/ the humidifier during veg. Refilling it like, 2-3 times a day. Total pain in the arse though.

why would one want to raise their humidity...if it aint broke dont try to fix it....

recommendations are just that, recommendations....not code or law set in stone....

Just hang a towel into the bucket of water and for no cost you have a wicking system. If you need more just put in in front of one of the fans. You didnt say why you needed to raise it besides it was too low according to somebody. Like the guy said "if it aint broke dont fix it" too much humidity invites bugs, powdery mildew, etc.

i want to raise my humidity loudblunts because i work 10 hour days and dont have the option to water my plants during that time...when i get home the soil is really dry and cracked because of the H.I.D. lights...i use the 400watt bulb when im gone but i really like the 1000watt bulb because it provides over 100,000 lumens to my plants...so the more water i can get in the air the better...i need to prevent the soil from drying up too quickly...everyone else, thanks for the tips...

...i have 2 lights in my grow room that are always on...a 1000watt and a 400watt...i have ten plants that are four to five inches tall...the room stays at 75 to 80 degrees...i got a soil that is light and fluffy...the soil dries up extremely fast under these conditions and very often, i come home from work to find that the soil is bone dry...im starting to only run the 400watt MH light when im gone but even then the soil dries out quickly...i water often not because im making a rookie mistake but because the soil needs it...believe me when i say this...the soil is dry as hell...

Add some vermiculite to the soil. This will help the soil to retain more water. You could also raise the humidity using one of the methods provided above. Keep it Green Good Luck.

OK, where to start? First, you don't say how big your containers are, you probably got them in small containers, !-3 gallon containers are sufficient for plants started from seed, clones only need smaller containers if you do a sea of green method where you bud short small plants for max yield. I you're using small containers you could line your area with several layers of plastic and up the walls 6 inches to make a tub or use kiddy pools. Put some perlite down first then some peat moss or that choil (coconut stuff) on top a few inches thick. set your plants into your peat a couple inches to cover the drain holes and water the peat instead of the pots, they will wick up all the moisture they need. Just don't put the plants too deep because they shouldn't sit in water all the time. The roots will grow into the lower level out the drain holes and your plants will not be over watered. It's cheap and very effective. After the first harvest you can afford to buy a humidifier if you still need one but you probably won't. Make sure you vent well, but a humidistat works best. Never let the air sit still, use oscillating fan(s) to keep the air moving, don't just point the fan at plants, it causes wind damage. Make sure there is plenty of fresh air ventilation (but not COLD air) to avoid mold, mildew and bug problems. There may be better ways out there today but cheap and simple works if you understand the basics. BUY A GROWERS GUIDE!!!!!!!!! NUF SAID

humidity is a factor when it gets too high, thats when mold and fungi start to spread. keep it no higher than 80 "% when in veg growth and no higher than 60% in flowering stages. the lower the humidity the better in the flowering cycle, buds attract molds and fungus easily. good air circulation is a must

my humidity is always between 30-45% in my room, depending on how long it has been since watering them last, and how much water is sitting in the trays below...but that idea with the perlite and coir or coco peat moss or w/e idea in the kiddie pool or plastic lined wall was a good idea kudos budman56, imo nice reply, good advice.:joint::joint:
