Hundreds of dollars, and tens of hours of back breaking work in.. NEED HELP.

Ok so a little while ago my parents went on vacation for two days, and I decided to build an underground grow room in my back yard. It is 6'x6'x5', hand dug and a foot underground (worst 2 days of my life worked nonstop on vyvance). The room is sturdy, and made out of plywood and 2by4's. on the outside it is covered in plastic to keep (most) water out. I opened it today 2 weeks after it was closed, there was a lot of mold everywhere and the air felt toxic so i closed it again.

my plan from this point is to completely seal the room with silicone caulk and spray foam.
then run wiring to it underground to feed an hps balast for 2 400 watt hps bulbs and an 8" duct fan (maybe go with 6")
rig the lights so that they are completely sealed in a cool tube with the cool tube intake taking air in from the room. then a pipe to the outside a few yards away
the lights will be rigged to timers
i will run a hose through the room to each plant and then the outside so i can water them.

i can only get into the room at night. but it would be best if i can just leave it alone and check up once a week or so since i have to dig to open it.


my biggest fear is mold. will silicone-ing all the walls be enough or no? (do i need a dehumidifyer)

would i be able to hide the electricity used from my parents ?

should i worry about heat?

how many plants should I have?

does this sound like a kind of solid plan or is this the craziest shit you have ever heard?



btw my parents kind of found out the day they got back, its not easy to hide 216 cubic feet of dirt. they dont think im doing it anymore, but i need to fucking pay for my education (pharm D). and i would be able to if i didnt spend so much money on pot so i want to grow for myself.

lol. Try guerilla growing, dude. Or just move outta your parents house. Even if you're able to hide the grow from them, the rise in electricity bill will be noticeable. Respect your parents, it's their house and they're letting you live in it. The free rent and food is worth a lot more than the money you'll save by growing your own dope.

The department of education will give you a good rate on a student loan, and they'll even subsidize (cover the interest while you're in school) a good portion of it. Google stafford and perkins loans, and fill out the FAFSA

will switch electrical companies to save 15% on electicity (so they dont notice)

IF you are serous, you are going to lose everything the first time it rains...I assure you, no amount of plywood and caulking will prevent your underground structure from leaking or causing catastrophic issues. Good luck.

actually, it has already gone through a few decent storms and i have dumped like a few hundred gallons of water from my pools backwash, and it was legit (i have sandy soil).

keep in mind that it is comletely wrapped in plastic on the outside. the caulk and foam are meant to seal out the moisture.

what kind of catastrophic issues are u talking about specifically?

Yes of course pics will help. This is an engineering nightmare dude. You said it was toxic air when you went in last time. So it was not even close to good enough. If you are not a legit ass contractor, this will not work.

There are any number of homes with plywood walls for a foundation underground. Your plywood should have had a water-proof membrane applied to the outside. Will not last more that 2 years if that long. Humidifier may help. After caulking use dry-lok water-proof foundation paint on the walls and find a way to pipe in fresh air or the stagnating air may make you very ill. There is also the very real possibility of cave-in. You may survive being trapped under a wood panel but if dirt covers your ass you will not even be able to kiss it good-by.
Do you not think your parents will notice a new name on their utility bill come time to pay them?

If my kids dug a hole like that in my backyard I'd fuckn kill em lol. Fill that hole back up. Growing good bud is hard enough, let alone the headaches you will have in a pseudo cave. I would look elsewhere to grow.

If poster isn't kidding this is a mold trap, an electrical hazard and an invitation to disaster.

your just nuts on more than one level. that hole should have been filled or your room rented out. whats with parents these days.

I dated a guy once that would go on what I now know to be meth binges, but during one him and one of his friends built a hiding space underneath his bedroom floor...they built a whole little underground cave right under his floor...it sounds like you are as crazy as them...so good luck.

one last question. what about doing it in the attic (noone has ever gone in there) and tapping in before the meter?
