Sweet. I'm going to hold out until tomorrow. Apparently they are closed on Sundays and Mondays and I'm a dumbass for not noticing, so my bad. I will call again tomorrow and try to place my order, I really want to get the lumatek ballasts and I hate "max-wing" reflectors. Those are garbage, I need an air cooled hood.

Laser what wattage of Lumatek ballast are you buying? You can get the 600w from www.dchydro.com for $70 less. Ive ordered from them on two occasions and been completely happy with their service.

Hmm, never used Atami before. What kind of results are you getting in comparison to Advanced Nutrients? I'd be interested to see what your experiences are since others probably want to know why you'd say AN is overrated.

Personally, I think AN is worth every cent. But I'll admit I've only used a few other nutes before switching over and not turning back.

Well, sometimes my hydro store is out of AN (it's that popular where I'm at) and then I have to use FF or something else.

Can you post the results you've gotten with Atami? And how you've done with AN?

Share some numbers and then we can know you're not just a shill for Atami...LOL

I didn't mean to bash AN...i think they're very good as well...i just prefer Atami B'CUZZ products. I've used them for years (unfortunatly not right now since nowhere in my area can i find them).


I never did side by side comparions, and i've had a few differnet grow spaces over the years, so posting number's wouldn't do any good. I had to use AN once when i couldn't get B'CUZZ. I didn't see much of a difference size wise, but then again i think it's all in the grower how things turn out, and if i remember correctly the taste wasn't the same...B'cuzz brings out the flavour more, in my opinion.

I ordered the 600w lights today from HTG Supply. So hopefully they get here pretty quickly and we can get things really underway. I still need to purchase another carbon filter and maybe a fan depending upon the heat these lights generate.

I can never find ANY information before this hit happens. I searched all over and all I heard where these great reviews about HTG....time to call and get my tracking #. I won't let this shit happen to me! I CAN'T have this happen!

I called and I was able to get a tracking # so theoritically anyhow it's all good. Should be here early next week. Looks like 3 packages and they shipped it 3-day shipping for me.

Soon enough we should be rolling, I'm not planning on vegging them into monsters or anything, but I'll let them veg under the 600's for a week or two and we'll start them on to flowering.

Alright, it's Friday...I try to do pictures on Fridays. The soil is still out to quite the dominant lead. Those lights better show up on Tuesday like the tracking # says. The problem now is that I don't think the hydro side is going to catch up! I'll see what happens under the 600w's as I let them veg for another week or so, but it's going to be difficult for those suckers to catch up at this rate. I'll go down today and buy them some big pots and get them setup for flood and drain.

Those soil plants are in 3 gallon pots now, do I need to transplant to larger pots. I'm going to start flowering in a week and it's hard to image they are "rootbound" in 3 gallon pots. They are pretty tall pots so they look small in the pictures, but they shaped like small trashcans.

I don't know much about soil, but they say that you're to do the final transplant before they go into flower. I guess it's so if they're not rootbound now, they will be after that stretch in flower.

Naw laser you're all good there...3 gallon is big enough. I use 2-3 gallon containers and have NO rootbound issues. You'd only get that if you were to veg for another 2 months or more!

wow could of swore i read lots of people talking bout hydro beats soil every time no contest and shit but um from the looks of things so far dont look like it lol. i transplant mine only once and i do it when they are like 2 weeks old last grow i grew my plants like 4.5 feet because i didnt know they streatch so big in flower lol was my first grow i vegged for like 2 months in 4 gallon pots they did fine

The difference really exists for a couple of reasons. The hydro plants were a little drowned when they went from the 1" cubes to the 4" cubes and that slowed them down. The soil plants transplanted much earlier and so the roots systems are much larger and much stronger.

That being said I think I'm going to have to shift gears here because they are on two completely different pages now. The soil plants look to be about 2 solid weeks ahead of the hydro plants. I know there's a good chance they will catch up, but if they don't start to get a little closer I'm going to go a different route.

i dont kow why you would have to change anything i thought this was more of a taste and quality test not a yield and size test. just what i thought the reason for the test was not a whose dick is bigger hydro or soil but more of a who knows how to use what they have better

It really doesn't change anything for me. It's a change in the plans, but at this stage it's easy to see it wouldn't be fair to flower them side by side. The soil side plants are ridiculously larger than the others. It looks like a plain ol difference of a couple of weeks. At least I now exactly how detrimental overwatering can be on the transplant of the small cubes into the larger cubes.

It's been a long, arduos weekend working on all of this in preperation for the lights to arrive on Tues.
