Hydro Question 4x8 tray (homemade or commercial)

I am planning a grow for 6 months or so from now and am going to use 2 4x8 trays with 4 x 1000w HPS, CO2, Advanced Nutes, and inside a controlled grow tent with heavy ventilation, humidity and temp control. SOG style. I have not done anything this big before and want to know if you guys think that I should purchase the tray/res setup online from the following website (http://www.kalyx.com/store/proddetail.cfm/ItemID/823354.0/CategoryID/12000.0/SubCatID/2405.0/file.htm), or if I should try to build my own since this one is so damn pricey. I think that I could do it but I dont want to mess it up and I like having a customer service line to be able to call if i have problems.

Also if ne1 has experience with the large trays doing 4x4" rockwool cubes possibly 6x6" touching on all sides round 200 a tray would you suggest Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Nutes or the Micro n Bloom. Im liking the Connoisseur for the sog style but ie heard it cant be a little hard to control sometimes. Thanks RIU.


--- oooh n one more how many carbon filters do you think it would take to keep a 10x10 grow tent w this setup in it projecting nice n clean smellin air?! Or other desmeillifying products...

AND, sry, its arite to take clones from a mother in soil n put them into hydro right? I have done it before and it has worked out but never on such a large scale. If ne1 has ne good DWC mother tutorials feel free 2 lemme know but I havnt found ne I like that much. THANKS!!!

2 4x8s is a hugggeee grow. 2k watts can pull you about 3-4 lbs done right, any reason u need 8 lbs every 60-80 days? I ended up breaking down and buying the tray. Build the stand, install the fittings and what-not yourself you can save some money. I like roughneck containers for rezs (they try to charge like 200-300 for a 50g rez, a 50 gal roughneck is 18 bucks at meijer :lol:

Check out that thread for a similar setup and ideas. As far as odor control, you want a fan that can 'turn' the air in the room in 5 minutes. So, 500 cu ft room, 100 cfm fan would due, but always shoot a little on the high side. Duct runs, carbon filters, lights will all reduce the performance. For the scale grow you have planned expect to drop at least 4-5k on supplies.

ok wow 4x8 those are some major tables i would not buy the set up like that those premade setups they are so over priced it is unreal think about this 4x8 tables cost 250.00 a piece you can buy a 100 gal rez with a lid for 200 so thats about 900.00 right there and for about 150.00 more you can purchase the pumps and fittings you will need for this system ebb and flow is easy drill the two holes in the table and put in your fittings hook up you pumps and voila as for a stand i would recomend making the from 2x4s or something which will save you a tone of money cause shose prebuilt stands i think are around 300 a pop through a hydro store i dont know where you are but if you live with in a few hrs of a hydro shop id call them up tell them all of what you are looking for maybe they can even hook you a deal bc you buying alot of stuff or see if they will hook you up even more if you pay in cash you are easily looking at 4-5k idk have you ever grown in hydro before this seems like a big undertaking with a decent finacial backing if i were you id do lots of research look at the al b fuct threads they are the best maybe do a trial run on a smaller scale find the nutes your going to use and formulas for that maybe developing some sort of plan good luck though

What are you trying to ask? 100cm filter = 700cfm =8inch fan
If your cloning from a mom in soil and you want to go to hydro. Use little rockwool sqaures and put the rockwool into the hydroton( or in a bigger rockwool cube 6x6 Sog or 8x8.2+ plus week veg.
You can put the clone in whatever you want. jiffy pucks, foam , pro-mix and all hydro. water them with a b1 two days before you transplant into the bigger cubes

Here's an oldie but goodie from the old OG Faq.

As far as carbon filters, I use a Can filter/fan combo. You probably would need something like THIS.

The stands they're selling are not only overpriced but also usually to high. I just use cinder blocks with plywood on top. I would keep the reservoir (s) separate and just use rubbermaids roughnecks. Building your own trays is much tougher but you can get them on Craigslist for reasonable prices.

Yes I i agree 2 4x8s is a large grow but it can get a WHOLE LOT BIGGER lol but nvm tht I have recently done a hydro grow w 2 4x4 trays and was killing it like maxing out the light i was doin right at 2 lbs had dat shit dialed in but i also had help from a friend. So i know what Im doin lol at least enough. And i have spent countless hrs searching this sight prob days to get to the point where i know how to fix most problems that sow up. Otw I can just ask u guys. n YES i love the way u think someguy i have allready seen tht thread many times b4 like i said i have done all my research lol. Luv the idea for the res and i absolutely hat how fuckingg overpriced they r its a fuckin bin u put water in jezis. And i will prob end up building one myself and purchasing one n then over a period of time replace the purchased one w another hand built one and so forth :weed:

Yes Al B is the man and i have read many of his journals and tutorials prob have them memorized by now lol n i think u guys have convinced me to build at least one myself. I have a budget of round like 7 gs between me n my partner so we can pretty much afford to buy the commercial systems but i def think we can build one ourself. Besides if all goes well 6 months in and well b startin to make a profit off da shitt. O i mean getting as baked as i want whenever da fuck i want lol. :bigjoint:

Yea what i usually do is take the cuttings n put them into rapid rooters in a humidity controlled cloner for a few short days until the roots r poppin through n then they go into their 6x6 rockwool cubes and under a veg light for 2-2.5 weeks. Then into the tent and onto the tray where all the good stuff happens. A good man once said, "I never make ne money in veg." :mrgreen: Good stuff w the fan ill use tht as a starting block and test out what will work best from there.

Aite thx for the info love it all n yes tht is the fan/ filter set up i was planing on using just dont know how big yet or if i may use to fan filters one going through the lights and one venting the whole room in general. PEACE :peace:
