Hydro under the sun (DWC)

Whats the cons of setting up a bubbleponic system under the sun?
I have everything I need except money and lights. I don't see why no one ever does it. I've never seen the thread here..
obviously its not very stealthy but neither is a 5 foot monster. :weed:

Maybe i'll give it a go and tell you chaps how it goes?

i can't imagine any reason why it wouldn't work well. This past summer I was considering using my parking space for my apartment as a hydro garden for tomatoes and peppers. I was a little worried of people stealing equipment and fruit, so I didn't get around to it. (It also meant I would have had to park my car a couple blocks away from my house....)

I say go for it!

I also wanted to set my DWC in my window, But have been a lil worried about security....if you have privacy I'd give er a go .....Franco Of greenhouse seed thinks the best pot is grown under the sun, And I tend to agree with him.The sun can do so much more for plants than the lights we build to replicate it indoors....and it's free :)

the only thing i can think of negative is the res temperature might become a little hot because you cant control it with fans and stuff like that which could help cause root rot....that and thieves make sure your air pump is not in direct sunlight either. If i had my own home and was comfortable i would do it, make sure you dont have helicopters flying around where yur at all the time cuz i know i do where i live lol

i have dun. toms, and peppers out side in dwc, algae was my only problem. i used reflectix on the res to try and keep temps down.

I would think you could bury the buckets in the ground to help with temps

now THAT is a brilliant idea!

Although, if you live in a place that has warm days and cold nights, and you use an insulated tub such as a cooler for your res, I'd bet you wouldn't have any issues.

Good call or wrap you tote with a styrofoam shell of some kind

Yeah, I think I'll give it a shot, all though its already halfway through summer here in AUS

Still, isn't it weird that no one else really talks about doing this?

Build a shed with a retractable roof so you can control the light cycle and control the uninvited guests better.
