Hydro VS Dirt the final show down

Ok so here I go. I am turning 1 of my rooms over to hydro. I am gonna use 50 7 gallon gravity feed hydro buckets. The bottom of the buckets will always have 3 gallons of water for the roots to be in. My plants will be rooted in rock wool and the rock wool will be set on lava rocks on a tray about one quarter in side the bucket. On the top of the bucket it will have a circle feeder hooked up to an air pump. My only question now is what is the best type of neuts i should use. moms soil, children/clones hydro!!

i say you stick to dirt, or if anything go hempy and feed with compost teas

If your a beginner, best to start out with dirt and then hydro and then eventually learn how to aeroponics. Aeroponics is the ultimate way to grow cannabis. revolutionary lol

I've just got dry weight from my first batch of hydro plants, grown hempy style SOG.

over 8oz Hydro compared to just over 3 in soil.

Same number of plants same size pots etc.

I'm presuming same strain, correct?

Yeah, the hydro batch was cloned from the soil batch.

The Hydro batch showed much more uniform growth from start to finish.

I guess there's less variables in the medium if you're mixing nutes en mass.

....and the same level of gardeningg expertise for both methods, same lighting conditions, same temps day and night, same plant condition regarding health, same nutritional values applied to each garden, same amount of water......

I am far from a first time grower i have been growing in dirt for more than 8 years. I am just new to hydro

Sorrry =(, I see now. But i never heard of solar panels that cost 10grand to cover 20 1000watt lights. Why wouldent everyone that grows big do it? Why would people even bother to steal electricity if it only costs 10 grand to cover 20 1000watt lights.

I was wondering the same thing...i guess i'll have a peek at the website and see, sounds way to good to be true, I thought it was more just to run an average house, which mexsins is way over.

ok, for sure don't add up, the cheapest 200w panel is over $1100, so your $10k may be 10 of these with out any kind of gridtie system, etc...but that would put ya generating an absolute max 2000w.......

The grid alone cost 10k the actual solar panels were recycled The system was at first designed for mostly summer time weekend use where we run the batteries down to 50% during our stay and allow the solar modules to charge the batteries while we are away. If the batteries should get run down during our grow, we have the backup generator to power our are grow room while the solar modules are given a chance to charge the batteries back to full.

In the future we plan to add a 55A external battery charger (1500W load) that will run on the generator (2000W capacity) to charge the batteries. The generator has an 8A built-in battery charger, but this is too small for charging our battery bank and is designed for trickle charging car batteries. You typically want your battery charger to be rated at 10% of your battery bank capacity as a minimum (44A for us) and up to double that as a maximum.

Our batteries are housed in a custom, sealed battery box to prevent hydrogen off-gassing to our home and the box is vented to the outdoors to allow the gas to escape. This is an essential safety feature for any battery-based system that used flooded lead-acid batteries.

how much did the batts cost you for the system? I'm very envious brother, please post us some pics!!

I was lucky the batteries were also recycled. But they cost upward of two thousand dollars for a (3600 Watt Sine Wave Inverter). And i am hoping to have pics of my whole set up in the next week or two

thats alot of stuff to tend to but everyone needs a hobbie....you'll like hydro saves money and trouble of buying medium all the time...and since your exp with soil hydro will produce quicker if not larger yeilds and better use of space...and to answer someones question yes airoponics is better that hydroponics the more air you get to damp roots ideal growing conditions untill one of your pumps go down and your away, kiss em goodbye dry roots=death or a leak ect. it's your choice how fast you want to grow and how complicated you want your system to be i guess.....
