i went to my local hydro store and picked up this hydro farm day star ac.

does anyone have any experience with this reflector? I also got this fan with it there both pretty heavy and i dont know how i will hang this i still need to make a box but not sure the dimensions (dont wanna burn my plants). Whats the recommended hight should the 400w hps/mh be from plants, andhow will tiny pvc tubes support this and the fan? the guy at the hydro shop said u can't use a hps in a closet thats smaller than 7 1/2 feet tall ? that doesn't sound right , I need this light to be cool and the least amount of noise possible how should i set this up?

I understand you're probably eager and excited to get started, but try doing as much research as you can first. Most people start small and gradually add higher quality equipment. Since you already have a light, you need a space to accommodate it. Your first mistake was letting the guy at the hydro store sell you a bunch of expensive gear without you knowing how to use it. Most of the guys on this forum are glad to offer advice, including myself, but we hate to see new growers trying to do too much too quickly. The key is starting simple and doing tons of reading. There are thousands of threads on here that can point you in the right direction for what you want to accomplish.

if you have grown that much and have shitty yields then keep taking the hydro store guys advice. and why come on here and ask if you feel that way? you dont know how to hang a light and you want it to be cool and quiet. well good luck cause i would gladly offer some great, tried and true advice but i dont think it would help you.

First time caller, long time listener.
I'm building a grow room and want to do it right.
Budget is an issue.
Problem are too many choices and brands.
Reflectors vs hood?
600 or 1000?
Cool tubes with glass vs wings?
Lights on tracks?
Figured I'd give you wonderful, generous ingenious people the dimensions and situation in exchange for sound, sage advice.
Garage stairwell space (4x3x7).
Dirt in pots.
I'm in Texas so it gets hot but I plan to alternate between indoor and outdoor as weather and sun permit.
Mainly, this is for winter and spring but if it works well might make it permanent.
That's when I'll upgrade to 2 rooms.
Thank you ahead of time for taking the time to educate an idiot like me.
It's a mitzvah.

You have to account for many things when you are designing your grow room or it will be all fucked up that is why people are suggesting you read up, i have been reading these forums for years now and have only recently started my first grow and regardless of all of the information i have retained i am still running into problems. If you are mounting your hood to a ceiling you need to get a stud finder and locate the trusses mark them on each side and then drill in the middle use hooks and light hangers to secure your hood, make sure your hood is secure as you don't want it to fall down and start a fire. Also i wouldn't say you need a 7 foot ceiling to use an HID but you do have to account for the space that every thing takes up the hood, the planters, the space that the plants will require, and the space between the light and the canopy that's 5 feet minimum already, the light should be fine at 12 inchs away from the canopy since its air cooled but you of course need to be able to raise it to compensate for growth. If you are building your own box you need to build supports into the box for the heavy equipment that will be hanging its pretty easy i built one not long ago and it came out perfect.
