Hydroponic Ebb & Flow, 3x3 Jardin Tent grow show.

What's Crackin' RIU?

Indoor grower from the Midwest here. Been growing indoors on a micro show level for a couple of years now. This setup is the culmination of all my previous experience. The customized Botanicare Econojet Ebb & Flow system provides the aeration of an air table with the power and speed of an electric water pump. Thanks to a dedicated small air pump, the time it takes for the flood to reach the overflow inlet is just a single minute. Adding active air delivery to a needle wheel water pump's venturi is like supercharging a Corvette.
Another thing you'll notice is the fan on top of the flood tray. Despite Botanicare's excellent design and drainage capability, the added fan serves to exhaust dank air out the root zone while simultaneously providing added circulation to the plants. Put on a short cycle timer, any added humidity into the grow chamber shouldn't be too much of an issue.
The HVAC system is a simple but effective one: Can-Fan RS8 which acts as an extractor fan making enough negative pressure to pull air in from an 8'' passive intake at the bottom of the tent and vent heat away from the bulbs. Easy enough to adjust - turn the Dayton fan on and then slowly increase the voltage going to the RS8 until the walls of the tent suck inward... Perfect environment in a snap!
Another notable feature is the dual spectrum lighting. Big 200w 6500k 8u CFL alongside a 400w HPS on dimmable (down to 250w) digital ballast. Gives you a lot of flexibility throughout various stages of growth.

The setup:

- Secret Jardin DR90 3x3 tent
- Botanicare Econojet 2x2 ebb & flow system
- Sun System 250/400 Digital mh/hps reflector
- Sun System Garden Bright cfl reflector
- Can-Fan RS6 High Output centrifugal fan
- Green Air MCC-1 climate controller
- Green Air TSC-1 timer
- Furman Power Station 8 line conditioner

Additional equipment includes:

- Sedra G300 needle wheel water pump
- GH dual diaphragm air pump (used exclusively for G300)
- Dayton 4'' axial fan
- Variac fan speed controller
- Kill-a-Watt power meter

Flood settings:

Recycle On time: 1 minute
Recycle Off time : 5 hours

Are you going to show us this in action? We roll the same way but you have a few more toys.

What are you hoping for yeild off this grow ??
Probably not too much. It's Sonic's Pinequeen crossed with Bodhi's Snowlotus. Both are breeders who I have a lot of respect for and I feel this strain is flying under the radar at the moment. I was originally planning to do SickMed's Williams Wonder. Came down to a coin toss ultimately.

So I pretty much got the system dialed in at this point. Right now in veg I am flooding for a little over one minute every six hours around the clock. This is how long it takes for the flood to reach the overflow plus approximately fifteen seconds more.

Secret Jardin DR90 Specs:

Timer: Green Air Products Mico Climate Controller
Cycle Timer Mode: 24 hrs.
Cycle Timer On: 00:01:15
Cycle Timer Off: 06:00:00 (veg), 05:00:00 (flower)

I keep the exhaust fan on it's own seperate mechanical timer. This keeps the ventilation going long after the light(s) turn off. The small fan on top of the flood tray is on a recycle timer set at five minutes on and ten minutes off.

That sure is a fancy looking setup, MMG. I like a nice clean setup like that! I hope that plastic film is enough to support those plants once they become big, though.
Nice work!

Thanks! The net pots actually sit on the flood table, so no fear of the plastic ever tearing. I've since flipped the small fan so that now it's blowing into the root zone as opposed to removing air away from it. I read some really interesting articles on 'sub-aeration' and it was pretty informative to say the least. Apparantly sub-aeration is used in the golf course industry where a pipe with holes is placed into the ground with air being pumped into the pipe.

Scrapped this grow, along with the setup as well, due to Spider Mites. :( Aaaarrgh!! Mites are a real beeotch if any of you indoor growers have ever dealt with them. There are some decent remedies out there, but your grow is pretty much fvcked the second those little bastids appear!

I've scrapped the whole grow now. Been dabbling in making beer for a while and have decided to go that route head-on for the time being. It's almost cheaper to buy decent local buds than grow them at least where I'm located.

:peace: Cheers Amigos,
