Very similar, but not exactly teh same bro. The flavor, aromas, and terps that are produces from all organic soil is where its at.
I was under the impression growing outdoors naturally increases terpenes/terpenoids and flavanoids.., Like your sig pic too Tool/apc/puscifer are awesome \M/

Hydro definitely wins in size of plants, but requires daily maintenance to achieve good results. You have to be willing to do the extra work (PPM/EC adjustments daily in my case) . Of course organic is the natural way to grow, and flavour is the best out there, there is no argument there Another plus, is that once the biologicals are established, there is not much more to do than water and feed once in awhile. The major drawback in my opinion to organics is plant/ bud size, as they will never reach the size of a well maintained hydro plant.
So, in my opinion it really depends on what you want to do. Either go for big plants that need more maintenance that hydro requires, or go for organic soil, which will probably produce a better tasting/burning plant, but expect less weight using it. It's your choice.

Hydro is just too much maintenance for me.

I don't have to do anything with soil other than treat it with my own blend of organics and water. The plant does all the work, I just sit back and watch.

Really what I meant by my original comment, is that most people can't tell the difference between hydro and soil when everything's dried and cured, especially if it's from an experienced grower.

Thanks all. Think I'm going to do soil and hydro see for my self what the difference is. Now next question is dwc or flood and drain witch works best. And if I go flood and drain how often do you flood it. And thanks agin for all the helpful info

Yea, your right, most (all?) people want to do is 3 blasts in a pipe (joint) and get fucked up. That's exactly the reason I switched to hydro (I grow for a living) in that for pot heads, they really don't care if it's organic, all they want to do is get high. I have never had a customer ask is this is organic (Whole Foods?), all they want is good bud at at a good price, which I give them, happily.
I have to get the most weight per watt of energy for my livelihood, and organics ain't there, at least for my purposes.
So, if you want to spend 90 day's and get maybe 4 zips dry per plant, or spend the same amount of time and energy costs and get 9 dry, go ahead, but in my world it ain't worth it. .

comes down to this

can you store and dispose of the soil or coco or whatever ?

can you risk the hydro system busting and all the water going down ?

then hydro can be more work and can go very wrong when it gets hot and the pumps make noise

but hydro can be a lot less hassle if you have a large stable res and a set up that self waters

unlike with coco/soil you normally have to water more and transferring plants can be hard work

with hydro you can inspect the roots

but you can be very lazy with soil and still get bud, doing that with hydro you`ll normally end up with a dead plant

saying that as crappy as it is for root rot if you can get DWC working well in the space its more hassle than soil you don`t have a load of dirt to get rid of if you don`t want to reuse it

a 70 to 120L bin with a lid and a really good air pump can grow you a monster

where as a 70L pot would get you a pretty big plant in dirt huge to most people but still not as big as the dwc but check your water supply and see what`s going to be easier for you
