Im getting bothered by the cost of my rockwool cubes, i spend 2k year now. Anyways, i was thinking of replacing with hydroton. I realize ill have to flood it 4-6x day but what else can i expect? Is it worth it? Itll pay for itself in 6 months . But will i have to wash it? Also, i would need alot of it. Thanks

I switched to pumice (couldn't get hydroton in winter in Alaska) and never looked backed. A lot cheaper. You simply rinse it in a collander. Used barbeque grill lava too.

I used to run hydroton in a sog but switched to rockwool. I got so beat washing it after a run. Did save money but not time for me.

All i do is rinse out table, runoff goes into rez which is pumped into drain. Couldnt i just rinse it with hose? Never taking netpots out, or soaking pebbles? Or would salt build up?

I think im gonna get 5" pots and try one table, let my experience be the judge, as always..

I got one, built it, 72 sites. Works great but dont use it anymore. Ive gotten roots in 7 days with it, faster process by far...
