I have a cousin in law who worked fast food for years. He managed stores from several of the national chains, then was a regional manager. He said the sodas have the largest profit margin of anything they sell. This was back in the early 90's when the large soda had just gone to a dollar. The price of the cup, straw, ice, syrup, CO2 and labor was 10 cent so they made 1000% profit.
Thanks to my bum kidney, I haven't drank soda (or beer) for more than 25 years. I guess I've save a buck or two.

Costco just raised their minimum wage to $16/hr. It was a business decision, not altruism. It makes sense for them to retain employees and raise productivity.
you get what you pay for.
C-store it's water and ice..same margin.

Yep, cost of a 2 dollar bag of ice is 20 cents. At work we have a real problem with folks stealing ice. Our kitchen ice machine had to go outside when we remodeled, and it doesn't always get locked. There was a yardman who would pull up everyday at daybreak and load up. I caught him once and told him he owed us a dollar a scoop. He didn't pay, but I made him dump the ice.

Anyways, I just think everyone should know what's actually happening out there. And the border patrol was also told they can't carry their machine guns anymore because it was scaring the illegal immigrants. So how do they deal with the cartel then? The cartel is loving the Biden administrations new shit.

The problem with all of these "is it worth $x.xx?" debates is that the value of the dollar varies vastly across the US.
As a very basic example, here are two homes for rent in the same general price range, first is nice small 2 bedroom in California and the second a large 4 bedroom for $500 a month less in Oklahoma. If people in low cost states think the limits are too high, then don't understand the economies of more expensive states.

I watch both news sources. It's interesting to see how much they try and ignore. They are both biased, but I find CNN to be far more deceptive than FOX. At least FOX talks about things that make the Republicans look bad. They don't gloat on it, but at least they'll mention it. Not one thing from CNN on the border in weeks or months.
