I was able to retire in 2008 at 58. In hindsight of the recession, I probably could have/should have worked a few more years, but I stayed in the market and it all turned out ok. Didn't travel as much as i thought i would except to go bass fishing. Plane travel's a hassle anymore. Took a couple of cruises, but the older I get the more content I am to just stay home and do nothing.I'm right there with you brother.
I have 25 years of service with the state of NC that I'll be able to start drawing retirement from when I reach 59 . which I'll be in 18 months . That's when I'll start traveling instead of my 50 mile limit from home. I'm going to double that or maybe even triple it hope I don't need a passport for that !
