Holy shit you guys are the best with all those answers, I guess everyone is bored with this lockdown...I'm prob gonna skip doing all of that bc it really isnt bad. The problem with my hearing is I have re-active tinnitus and my buzzing in my head goes up with noise. Stuff like the tv being on, furnace turning on, etc.. My next question is there a way to reduce noise when the furnace comes on?? My house is very small and the duct that runs from the living room to the vent is literally a 3 foot right angle (pictured). Is there a wrapping on anything simple that would reduce the noise some?

Looks like my 3 foot right angled circular duct I have pictured above is like rock solid and wont come undone. So unless I can cut the Black Acoustic ducting in half somehow and slide it over a type of spray foam or something will be better... Is it even possible to dampen the sound when the duct is only 3 foot long and you're right above it in the living room???

I personally think standard acoustic duct works better than that sonosphere black stuff.

Just get some rockwool loft insulation , not solid bats because you wont be able to bend that as well.

Wrap it all in loft insulation and then wrap with cling film or some type of plastic and tape it all up. If you don't wrap it up it will go all over the place.

Comes in different thicknesses and densities, stuff for lofts is pliable so you can wrap it round stuff.

Ok gotcha then just wrap something around like a garbage bag to keep the insulation from going all over?? Do u think it will help being the vent is so short (see pic i took)?

I'm in the same boat, tinnitus and my furnace and fridge ramp it up. That's my problem, its right beside my couch.

How did you get tinnitus? Mine is from neck/jaw issues and prob sleeping on my stomach with my neck jacked up.... My furnace is louder than youres I bet. Look at my pick of the duct being 3 feet long. Fucking thing.

And my AC is on all the time from May til October or my basement gets too hot... From Oct to April furnace isn't on that much bc the 68 degree air in the basement rises to my living room so the heat doesn't turn on bc I set it at 66-67 just so I don't have to hear it.

My fresh air return is at 56 dB it doesn't sound like much but it accumulates over time. Got it from concussion. I hear ya, I have a sunshine basement so the winter is the only time i have real issues with furnace, wake up and my ears are screaming. I used to turn the heat down to 61 just so I don't have to listen to it all night. That changed when I rerouted two of my ducts into grow room, now I gotta keep my girls warm, lol. It sucks but that's the least of my problems.

Bignutes you sound like my twin. How long have you had tinnitus for? You got it from a concussion, do you have neck or jaw issues? Are u on tinnitustalk.com?

Easiest thing to do is get rid of the air pumps by switching to dtw or hempy buckets, also rdwc with waterfalls reduce the sound. Air pumps suck

Hahaha on turning you're heat down to 61, I do the same but I turn mine to 66. My basement even in the winter is usually over 66 and that air rises so my furnance will only kick on like once an hour for 5 mins when its 20-40 degrees out...Did you ever take the THI test ?? I score a 45 on my bad days and a 22 on my good days.... I think there will be a treatment in 2-3 years.

I have DWC and use air pumps... I am a DWC pro.. Just ran a very good yielding stain in a tent that is 8 square feet and got 8oz's... Took clones and it took 2 weeks to root and had them in veg for 2 weeks and then to 12/12. Strain is like 60 days too.

Just guessing but my vent in my living room is prob 70-85 decibels.
