It is a typical soil mite. They are beneficial mites that feed on detritus found in organic soils. They love rotting leaves and rotting roots. They contribute insect frass from their waste and when they die.

Spider mites never spend any part of their life cycle in the soil (except when they accidentally fall from the plant) and you will notice that soil mites very rarely venture onto the plant.
