So basically my friend gave me some seeds a few months ago and told me to try them out.I wasn't serious about actually planting them but decided what the hell. After planting like 2 I sorta forgot about them over the summer, and now near the start of October the plant is huge !!

I dont know how long they have been flowering for, but I do have some pictures that might help.

Does anyone know what kind strain its called??

What about frost damage?? (its getting cold in Ontario)

Don't know what strain, pretty much impossible to tell through pictures, and don't see any frost damage. That plant is looking nice and healthy, but needs more time to finish, at least 2 weeks. You need to wait until the pistils (the white hairs that are starting to turn brown) are pretty much all brown and retracting back into the calyx.

it does look like it may be a sativa or a sativa dominant cross, but it being a sativa isnt a good thing at this point most likely. You see sativa strains take alot longer to finish than your indica strains on average and frost will hurt and eventually kill plants unless you bring them inside at night as it gets colder out. if that is possible you dont have much to worry about. looks real nice for a plant you forgot about all summer.

Bout 5 degree's celcius and below will start to be detrimental to it id say. Obviously lower than 0degree's celcius and it will start to take frost damage and die. Pot is hardy, if its not getting frozen to death its not going to die, but it will affect its growth etc

Freezing. It is ideal to keep night temps 60 or above, but they can handle temps right up to a few degrees above freezing without dying, but they might get a little frostbite on the tips. Cover your plants with a refrigerator box or something if you can when nights get cold.

Good job for not knowing what you were doing and just planting some seeds, haha! They have a lot more weight that they could gain tho, so I would leave them in the ground til atleast mid October. You'll be shocked to see how much more weight/potency they can gain by Oct 14. Hope you're feeding some good flower nutes lower in nitrogen, and high in phosphorus & potassium. Some carbohydrates will really help give your soil & plant extra energy to produce more weight & trichomes, as well.

Yesss.... nutrients hahaha seeing as how I didnt really care that much if the things sprouted all the plant has been in is normal earth with no added nutrients. I think I may have some kind of fertilizer in my shed though !

If you haven't been adding nutrients, it wouldn't be a bad idea to atleast give them a bloom booster IN MODERATION at this point, just to try and get as much weight off them as you can. Just know, that if you go too crazy on nutes you WILL burn them. The other problem is, based on your comment about maybe grabbing some out of the shed, has me thinking that you have some nutrient granules sitting around? Most of these takes 1-2 months to slow release. Some can even be designed for 3 month. If you feed now with only a couple weeks left, you will have lots of nutrients in the plant/soil that will not be able to be consumed or flushed out prior to pulling. For this reason, you'll end up with a chemical "hay-like" tasting bud, most likely. Now I could be wrong, and maybe you have some liquid nutes like Alaska fish emulsion or bloom booster, ... maybe even some unsulphered molasses in the pantry for some carbos for the plant? If you do, the liquids can be fed to the plant, consumed in light doses over a very short period of time, and then be sure not to feed nutrients in the final week but continue to water so that you can achieve a good clean taste in your buds.

Good luck

Would it be better to harvest the plant before the frost even though its not fully done or would it be better to see if the temperature actually affects the plant?? What would happen if I harvested and the plant was a bit burned?

It looks like what some people call an orange bud, probably a Columbian strain. Couldn't really tell you until I smoked some of it.
