I f-ed up my outdoor grow because...

#1 security make sure you can't see it unless your right up to it! Piss all over the place in the area when your hiking make animals know your there, dont bother with hair and shit like that. Some sort of of barrier between plants and critters, either log wall or chicken wire! Remember if you can hide a 6 foot tall MJ plant, you can hide a fence, just dont try and hide a silver fence, put some effort in and paint it green! Remember camoflauge and be lighter on your feet around your area. Theres plenty more options and ideas out there, do what you gotta do. Remember its easier to maintain a problem than to controll a problem!

Not giving the plants enough space in between each other.



Its not about how many plants you have, its about how big the ones you do have are.

Last September/October the mid-Atlantic states got hurricane rains for days on end. When the rains began my girls were about 6 feet high, double-stemmed and blossoming beautifully. At first I didn't give it a thought -- didn't have to water as often. Then I lost a couple of huge stalks and an entire plant [out of 5 plants total] due to the weight of the constant rain. Began harvesting and drying once the rain subsided, and only then noticed the bud rot.

A little rain, especially here in the mid-Atlantic, is fine and expected. But days and days of steady rain, at exactly the time your buds are fully-grown and rich with nooks and crannies that capture and store rain water, makes bud rot almost impossible to protect against. This year, I'll grow in the same garden, but I'll rig something to cover-up the plants during periods of prolonged rain to keep them dry. I don't think my heart could take another death sentence for my biggest, most beautiful buds.
