Sounds like an earwig to me, also commonly called pincher bugs for obvious reasons. They do feed on foliage, so you may want to look into some control methods if you suspect a large population. I've heard spreading boric acid power near cracks and baseboards works well.

I spray home defence max through out my house. Along all baseboards and around all doors. It's amazing stuff. It's pet friendly (not fish though) you just have to let it dry a few hours first and don't put on their food, bowls ttc, read directions) and all bugs do is walk over it and they roll over and die. I once sprayed my plants with it, they don't really like it but they didn't die. the stalk of my Thai Basil (that's what I sprayed I had a milipede type bug in the soil and it was burried I couldn't get it) turned all woody but the plant was fine. I just waited a month before I started to eat it again. Oh I soaked the soil with it and the bug ran to the surface then re burried I have never seen it again in three years so I assume it's gone. Anyways, I spray my house every three months and my garden room once a month. I"ve never had any infestations, except when my dog ran into my garden I ended up with spider mites, neem oil took care of that. If you see any bugs in my house they are dead, all on their backs dead.

if it was an ear wig then it might have just been one. They are just one at a time a lot of the time. Make sure that the plants leaves are not touching the gound. They also like really moist areas, so keep the humidity down and try to keep the room dry no open water laying around. Just keep an eye out for them.

they will be fine but that really indicates that you need to spray with something. You can start out by getting yourself some neem oil. It is organic, it prevents the insects from reaching sexual maturity. You will need to spray 3 or 4 times every 3 to 4 days. If you want to be a little more aggresive you can get a pesticide. If your plants are in flowering stage just use neem oil or get preditor bugs if you can see what's on there.. Keep a really close eye on your babie and be extremelly vigilant. If you don't do anything about it right away you will run into problems. The faster you react the less of an infestation you will get.

are you sure it wasnt a ladybird larvae, look for images on google of earwigs and ladybird larvae and see which it was, if it was a ladybird larvae you should keep it there as it will eat most of the little fuckers that like to eat your plants. Im a tree surgeon and I find 1000's of ladybird lavae up trees, recently we had a massive greenfly overpopulation problem in the garden so I filled up my lunch box with the ladybird lavae and emptyed them into the garden and greenhouse, they have distroyed pretty much all of the greenfly & loads of other little bastard insects that like my plants for dinner

I use FoxFarm's "Don't Bug Me" bug killer. It's all natural and safe for your plants. I've also heard great things about neem oil

Gotta be careful with it, some plants don't like it and you have to spray right before lights go out. I use it and it does work good if used right, I've only had problems with my swiss chard reacting to it, never my bud plants. It does work wonders just gotta use it 2 or three times.
