bigger is not better, smaller cfl get better lumen to watt ratios witch means you save some power and less heat, unless you don't care.

Hmm im tight on space so I had to move my upcoming grow from my attic to a 6' tall 30" wide rubbermade cabinet. I was going to put the 2 250w cfls in a large winged reflector that I can raise and lower.

I dont think I can fit 6 23w in there and aiming isnt much of an option. Heat wont be a concern as I have 2 bathroom vent fans in the top of the cabinet.

My thoughts were to get as much light as possible in a tight space and reli on mirrors and milar to spread it out.

I suppose I could install a few (2-3) smaller cfls facing up from around the hydro reservior to help hit the lower leaves.

FYI...I moved my grow space to the attic - Pro: More space; Con: Very difficult to control temperature - too hot in summer, too cold in winter. A small heater works well in winter, but in summer it's nearly impossible to cool the attic (unless I put a space air conditioner in there, which will take a lot of energy and be noisy).

Just something to think about.

Yup they have those bulbs at home depot for right at $20 each.. Those arnt the big grow ones but ok. They actually come in 250 and 300 watt actual watts and I have a place that makes up to 700 watt cfls actual wattage

those 125 watts cfls are nice but they also come in 200 and 250 actual watts and larger

Yes, I have 125 watters, 200 and 250 watt cfls. The bigger = more heat. Smaller ones can be moved around more for more light penetration and a larger area of light coverage.

I already have 4 of those. Well, something
very very similar. Only.. I had to buy four of them.. because these don't have the dual
spectrum 50/50 blue spectrum/soft white spectrum.

Same watts and everything though. I have 2 cool blue 6500k blues and 2 2300k softer whites.

I get the same amount of wattage..
Only I have to use my two of my
bulbs to equal the 500watt (equal to 500 watt) equivalence.. My bulbs are rated at
or equal to (250watts max) each. So yea
I have to buy two bulbs per stage!!! Flowering and my Veg cycles..

But.. with the one you gave the link
for.. would be better off buying that.

P.S. - !!!! The CFL bulbs i currently use.. work FUCKING great. I pay less
for my electric bill because of my change over to using only CFL bulbs
for my grows. No more excessive heat or any fire hazard worries from
the amount of heat that MH/HPS/HID lights give off.

Just wanted to add that.. alrighty later.

Sunlightshed.com sells them for $24.99 but then you have to pay shipping. Cheapest place I ever found them. Another option for people without a lowes/home depot. :leaf:

I received my 250w dual spectrum and my 105w 64k bulbs today. Heres a pic of the dual spectrum in action. I had to dim the pic a lot because this suckers bright lol.

I'm not sold on the big cfls. I get 42w 2700k bulbs for $4.97 each that produce 3000 lumens. For $60 you can get 12 of them that will produce 36000 lumens using 504 watts. And if one of them takes a shit, which one does every 2-3 months, big deal.
Placement is EVERYTHING when using cfls as a primary light source. They have to be right ON the plant. In my opinion, if using cfls, well placed 42's are the way to go.

I wanted the simplicity of a large bulb and batwing reflector w/out the cost and heat of a HID. To each theyre own, this seemed to be a good choice for my cabinet grow.
