i frazzled my plant can someone please help

i germinated a random seed i found and today it came up from the soil but in the time i left it the plant has been frazzled i am using a 400w light about 45 cm from my plant in a 120x80x180 mylar grow tent i have some seeds i purchased to germinate but im scared this will happen again

that is wayyy wayy too close man! you need that light 2.5 to 3 feet away (80 cm or so) until the seedling is big enough to take in all that light...

cheers mate in all the things i have read none said to do that just said the light to be 30 - 45 cm .so how long after planting in soil should it stay that high for and what is a safe distance after this .

how much is cm in inches? that sounds way too close. You want the light as close as possible w/o burning the plant. if you cant keep the back of your hand under the light at the approximate height of the tops w/o it getting uncomfotable its too close.

good, as long as you can do the test i mentioned above you should be good. good luck on try 2, im sure you'll get it all worked out. just dont get frustrated and give up.

yeah you can either move the light further away until the plant gets bigger, or you can switch up to CFL lights in the beginning and move back to your HID lighting after the plant has gained some size...
