...to me, at this point in life, I see where I chose to 'drive' too much and 'hit a wall'. Those were the times I was being 'spanked'. We're using language 'against itself' here.FEAR GOD
DO AS HE SAYS OR SUFFER FOR IT
BE GOD´s LITTLE BITCH OR BE DIVINELY SPANKED!
EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE BUT IF YOU ARE GOOD and donate some to the church THOU SHALT BE ALLOWED NICE THINGS IN THE NEXT LIFE
boy you sure know a lot about god. how do you know these things? where did you obtain this information?my God is a loving God, he is not trying to punish me, he wants the best for me. there are ppl out there that use scare tactics. i prefer the love tactic personally. think of a happy loving father that gives and gives and gives and only wants you to have a wonderful life. i know my father wasn't like that either but i am thrilled by the fact that i have the ultimate father that loves no matter what. i sin every day. we all do. we are human, thats what we do. but this father forgives me. loves me. he knows what's in my heart. he knows i am going to sin and yet he stills loves me. isn't that awesome? i think so.
it all seems so hard to believe and doesn't make sense. that's why it's called faith. i think it's much easier to believe then alien theories, etc. i don't understand why we chose to believe in aliens but not God. come on man, really?
i was raised in church. hated it, HATED it. i love God and i thank him everyday for my wonderful mrs, my family and friends and FOR MARIJUANA...cause he made it and i smoke it
i can't stand organized religion, any of it
...this is cool. I think too that for some people how they see god is relative to how they see their own fathers.religious people get too wrapped up in what their god will think (or does think) about them.
no i really don't know much about God.boy you sure know a lot about god. how do you know these things? where did you obtain this information?
you say you sin, and then god forgives you. how does he show his forgiveness? does he talk to you in your prayers and tell you he saw what you did, but its okay because he is an all loving god and he forgives you? or do positive events happen after you commit sins, where you then connect that event to god, and form the conclusion that you have been forgiven? or do you just assume he is forgiving you because that is what you have been told?
with any one of these situations, how do you know it is really god?
Ugh Pascal's Wager..... OH NO YOU DIDN'T! *snaps fingers* lolno i really don't know much about God.
i had religion force fed to me as a young person ("you will go to church as long as you live under my roof" anyone ever have to live thru that bullshit?) and i hated it. i did everything to avoid it. i did all the things kids do. drink, sex, drugs, from age 12 on. no big deal, we all go thru it.
when i was 22 i was in a life changing accident. i should have died but i didn't. i live in pain from that accident every day for the past 25 years. no big deal, it happens to alot of us. i should have died many times.
i have a younger brother (my partner in crime) who has lived with a debilitating disease for the past 20 years. he was struck down at the young age of 20 and has never been able to have a "normal" life. no big deal, it happens to alot of people.
i have every reason in the world to be angry and bitter. i was for a while too. i have a rough life honestly. no big deal right, we all have a rough way to go.
does god speak to me, come on man, get real. you think i hear a voice saying hey sunny, hang in there i forgive you everything will be fine? give me a break.
i know god loves me and forgives me because i feel the love. i don't know how to put it much clearer. i see what god has given me everyday when i see the beautiful sky, the gorgeous animals, the beautiful weed he has given me. i see it in the face of my mrs. i see it in the face of my friends.
i have no job, lost 100k a year 2 years ago, am 45 and doubt i will ever find another even though i am an engineer with lot's of education and experience. my mrs is sick, my brother is sick, my uncle and 6 friends died this year from cancer. i just lost a friend since high school from long term drug abuse. i have alot ALOT to be pissed of about but you know what? i'm not.
it's just life and it will be over soon. it has been a fun ride but i am tired and i hurt and i look forward to hangin with Jah and smoking his heavenly ganja while papa Bob sings to us from the tikki hut
if you don't want to believe, thats ok, i am not here to preach, i am here to learn how to grow better weed. you asked so i thought i would explain to you how i know about God. it's all good to me and all things being equal, why wouldn't i hedge my bets and believe? if there's is nothing after i die, what did i lose?
Ugh Pascal's Wager..... OH NO YOU DIDN'T! *snaps fingers* lol <---nice
"Pascal's Wager has commonly come up in arc-t as a reason to believe, for both Christians and non-Christians. There are many variations of Pascal's original wager floating around. This FAQ addresses the following version (though it could likely be applied to other versions as well):
If you don't believe in [the Christian] God, and you're right, you gain nothing
If you don't believe in [the Christian] God, and you're wrong, you lose everything
If you do believe in [the Christian] God, and you're right, you gain everything
If you do believe in [the Christian] God, and you're wrong, you lose nothing
Therefore, you should wager on [the Christian] God, so you get the best of all outcomes.
There are several fallacies to this argument, and it is considered one of the weakest reasons to believe, both by non-Christians as well as some Christians. Please note that not all of these fallacies will necessarily apply in every case.
Fallacy One: It assumes that there is only one god which can be believed in, the Christian one. This is not true, since there are a plethora of gods that have been believed throughout the millennia. This would have to be applied to each and every one of those gods to be true, and this would clearly be impossible, due to the clashing natures of many of the said gods.
Fallacy Two: It assumes that simply wagering on [the Christian] God will buy one entrance into Heaven. While this may be so, the Wager does not instill a belief, it instills an appearance of a belief. Since the god in question is presumed to be all-knowing, he would be able to tell a false from a true belief. Therefore, the belief from the Wager would not qualify should belief be the requirement for entrance into Heaven.
Fallacy Three: It creates a moral dilemma. You, by using this, are sending the most dedicated humanitarians, who just happen to not be Christian, to Hell, while you set a place in Heaven for those mass-murders who happen to be Christian. Since [the Christian] God is supposed to be a loving god, how then could he entertain the embodiment of hatred, yet turn away the embodiment of love?
Fallacy Four: It ignores too many alternate possibilities - some of which are addressed by existing religions, and some which are not. Some examples: A God could reward on criteria which seem meaningless to us - hair colour, taste in clothes, music etc. or A God might not be concerned with humans at all - the universe could be here for hydrogen for all we know. Or God may even reward those who don't believe.
Fallacy Five: It assumes any person is overly fearful of death to be worried about it being a conclusion to their life.
Fallacy Six: It assumes that a belief in God is all that is needed, when many Christians would disagree and would suggest that there are "guidelines" that you should live by (and that God requires you to live by if your belief is sincere). If these guidelines require a change on your part (for example: No sex before marriage, no smoking, denying you are a homosexual, not marrying a non-Christian, etc.), then it could be argued that you have lost something if the Christian God turns out to not exist."
Yes, it was a copy and paste, that's why I put it in quotations. It outlines the reasons pascal's wager isn't a valid argument from any sort of logical standpoint better than I ever could, and I didn't want to take credit for the work. Is there a problem with it in some way? Or are you upset that I used someone else's argument instead of writing my own?thanks for your cut and paste there beef believe or don't believe, i don't care, honestly i don't. makes no difference to me. someone asked ME why I believe what I do and how and i gave a first person account of a life lived.
i am not afraid to die. i believe. if you don't then you are exercising your free will. good luck to you.
LOL - Matt Dillahunty is a very smart man IMO... He has an incredible knowledge of the bible, and an incredible quick wit and natural aptitude for debate....I've always felt that 'fallacy 1' was charged with a will for it to be that way. All religions know there is one god made of many ('n vice-versa). It's one of those nifty paradoxes we're always on about.
ps: the guy in those videos is a little creepy. ...only my 2¢

no not at all. i thought we were speaking of our own experiences and feelings. which is what i gave. i wasn't making any argument, for or against any belief system but explaining mine. i do think what's going on here is interesting. i just am not gonna be drawn into an argument. you didn't have much response to any of the my post except for the hedging the bet part.Yes, it was a copy and paste, that's why I put it in quotations. I thought it was very well articulated, and leaves little, if any, response or counter argument when it comes to Pascal's Wager.

i dont see any reason to believe in a god in what you wrote. if anything, those explanations point to the lack of a loving god. but hey, we should all just believe in it anyways because if its true, we dont want to be caught in a bad spot, do we?no i really don't know much about God.

Those people would have to be on regular Earth, how else would we figure out who was bad enough to go to hell? You are currently in hell (you fucked up in a previous life), thats right heaven is normal life(earth) and there is the real heaven above that. Think about it -rape, corruption, starvation, war ,murder, genocide, bin laden, gaddaffi, madoff, child molesterers and used car salesmen. Like i said give it some thought.

If you believe that, then you are only tricking yourself into thinking you are not Christian...no no no, because if you believe in god... all you have to do is ask your imagination to forgive you of all the bad things you've done in your life right before you die.. and you can get your free one way ticket to heaven! where you are happy for all the rest of eternity and you get to hang out with all the friends you miss! but remember! no sex! no drugs! no violence! hehehehe, fuckin blasphemy.
