Most people go wrong with wet spraying the first coats. You want to dust, aka dry spray the first several coats layering them then your last coat or two be wet coats
 
here's some of my work. 1/64 scale. I strip the car down to parts. Strip it, paint it, design the graphics, add rubber tires and more details
