I had a LITTLE lightleak, what is enough to cause a plant to go hermaphrodite ?

Dear forum,

I have been very strict on my grow, I have a complete lightproof growroom going and everything went fine until this morning.

I had a little wake and bake and was about to get myself to work, I was on the way to the bathroom but accidentally opened the wrong door.. the door to the grow room -_-

This means that my girls had a little bit of sunlight which reflected from a white wall into the room for JUST A SECOND.

I literally closed it instantly after realizing I was opening the wrong f*cking door :P

So my question is..

1. Could this be enough light to wake them up and potentially stress them into hermaphrodite ?

2. How much lightleak WILL cause hermaphrodite ?

How bright was the light, and how long was teh door open?

Chances are it should be fine. Usually you'll get a reveg because someone completely screws up the timer or has a long term light leak.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it starts to show reveg pattern. Definitely not good, but probably not as bad as it could be.

Good luck.

1. Absolutely not.

2. That would be the result of multiple stress factors, I think you're over simplifying a bit.

Ima keep it real and Ima keep it simple, you're being anal, which correct me if I'm wrong but you're pretty green to this growing thing, aren't you? I think all growers are super anal in the beginning.
Chronic light leak is the real problem, a few moments of light here and there are not going to disrupt the plants' clocks whatsoever, it's not like waking up a bat cave. But you're justifiably concerned, it's good to see you're taking care of your ladies.

Shining 10-15 seconds of direct sunlight will abruptly end the night for the plants. It WILL wake up the bat cave, although very infrequent indirect light for a very short period may not be a giant issue, it's still possible to completely wake it up and thus give it one short night, which should be avoided.

Thanks for the reply, you really calmed me down!
I'm indeed a newby when it comes to growing cannabis but I'm passionate about having good results, this is my second grow!

My first grow had a hermaphrodite in it.. and it was just two plants, hence my worries this time!

I'm glad I could help bro.

When I first started I was overly researched, I monitored to unhealthy extremes and kept detailed daily journals on every plant. As the years have passed I've drifted more and more into a relaxed state realizing the answer to so many issues is the K.I.S.S. method. You'll find the same thing happens to you as you decide which factors are worth stressing over, and how much. It's good to see you are attentive, if you keep it up you will have great success and there are some excellent people on this website who will help you a lot. Just watch out for misinformation, and avoid information overload. Know which factors are important and which are extraneous, and focus on the former. God bless your work brother.
