i have been venting into my attic for about 6months now. no biggy!! also that is where i get my fresh air from
Dude, are fucking stupid? He asked a question I.E. How do I vent to MY attic, not how do you vent to YOUR attic asswipe. Who gives a shit if you vent to your attic and it's no bigger, also where you get your fresh air fuckstick. BTW, if you're pulling "fresh" air from your attic it aint very fucking "fresh". You're avatar explains it all. :finger:

NOW, with that out of the way, the way mentioned above with the hole saw and the flange with ducting in between on the ends would be best for you. It's easy and efficient. If you don't have access to a hole saw just cut out a corner in the boards big enough for your ducting to go through, will work just as good or get a flange on a square form to screw to the square you cut and hook your ducting up to the flange. This shouldn't cost you anything but a couple bucks and 20 min of time.

I just did this in my grow room. I took out the original board and bought a piece of plywood to cut the hole in to replace the original. That way I can swap the original if needed
that's what I'd do. Or since you don't have tools, you could buy one of the foam panels, or drywall and cut it to size with a carpenters knife. Then save that plywood piece you have since it is textured to match your ceiling already.

Also, you should try to make sure the duct is venting directly out of one of your roof vents. If you have cold and or moist climate pushing warm air into your attic can cause condensation and rot in your attic over time. However with that small of set up you should be ok.

Also, I suggest going with a 6 inch duct and fan, with a fan speed controller (bought separate, like $27). This way you can pull out more air later if needed, and you can turn the fan up or down.
