Hello people

I'm in my last week of veg
About to go into bloom
Room is small
12x10
I have two 1000 watt Vivosun air cooled lights exhausted.
Had a 5000 BTU AC unit with a little of the house ac helping... Barely cracked vent

During veg with MH lights.. It was topping out at 79 to 80..I thought cool...I can deal.

Now I put the hps bulbs in...
It hit 84!!!
So I went out and got a 10,000 BTU unit.
Now it's hitting 81daytime temp..
It is 97 degrees outside

My two options

A) leave it at 81, maybe run it at night, lights off during day and see if it gets me down to 78 for bloom

Or

B) Put my lights to 750 watt
And hope it reduces heat...

In week 4 to 5, it'll be September and it'll cool down here. So I just don't know which way to go.

81 bloom at 1000 watts

Or 78 at 750

I have 15 and 14 plants under each light with 4x5 ft footprint

Summer runs suck because of heat. I just do my best with reduced light intensity when it's really hot. I am building some LED lights to run in the heat of summer.

I have two rooms on a flip so I understand the need to run during the day. I just have to reduce the lighting intensity when the 4 ton AC can't keep up. Changing to LED will reduce my heat by about 1.5 tons. So thats my plan.

My room is 12x8x9 I would go with 81 temp and more light , what's your humidity running and you never mentioned if your pulling exhaust fan

As far as lighting goes, this is how I have mine setup...I figured 2 lights at 500 watts is better than 1 light at 1000 watts. Also, my lights are dimmable ballasts. In my mind, I figured better spread of light with less severe hotspots. I use an infrared thermometer to gague the temp of the plant. On hot days I'm dim the ballasts to 500 watts each...on cooler days I bump them up to 75% on each light which gives me almost 1500 watts.my Temps rarely go above 80/81 degrees Farenheit.

Most of the time I hover around 78/79 degrees. If it's a really hot day I will shutdown 1 light...I've needed only to do this once.

To answer your question directly, I would go 750w route. A little less light is better than too much heat...also keep in mind some strains tolerate varying environmental factors better than others. Good luck!

Do you have the glass installed on your air cooled hoods? In a room with an a/c unit, a sealed hood that isnt half ass built will make a significant difference in temperature.

I ran a 10x10 room with a 7k unit and 1000w HPS in a sealed hood, it had absolutely no problem diving the room into the high 60's.

If you live in an area with warm temps through the day, keep in mind your a/c will be running 24/7 if you use lights at night.

I concur, obviously having the glass installed will help with heat "bigly".

I think the night is always the best time for lights on.
When would it be better to have lights on during day time? (plant wise, not schedule wise for a person)

I only look for environment issues, I really don't think the plant cares, if you have heat issues put lights on at night, and vice versa.

Lights on at night is the easiest answer. But really, nothing to see here. No problem with temps in low 80s. Those are numbers that people are shooting for. Are you seeing some kind of problems or are you just assuming its too high? Personally, I like to be a bit lower than that, but honestly, you're fine.

Also cheaper to run everything at night. Lower energy usage and lower price per kilowatt.

It is almost always better to have lights on during the night:
- You have to cool less when lights are on.
- You have to heat less when lights are off.
- There is always more CO2 in the air at nighttime. Only when you live in a city with a lot of traffic during the day, it can be different.

Another benefit: You can check your plants with lights on before you go to work, and again with lights on when you get home late afternoon/early evening. You don't have to disturb them by switching the lights on.

Well as every one has said running at night will help. But for real I run that hot on purpose. I have a mini split and can set temp wherever I want I shoot for 81-82 all the way up until the last few weeks (which you said it would be getting cooler for). But honestly even if u couldn't drop it at the end I still think 81-82 is fine might be a little less dense than your runs from the rest of the year but won't hurt anything.

The only issue I have ever had with lights on at night is you don't get quite the degree of separation between day and night temps. During the dark phase you really want to get the temp to drop atleast 10 degrees if not 15 degrees.
