I have some electrical questions.. lighting...

So, if one were to do a closet grow and needed to plug in a few things, IE 175watt MH, air pump, fans, purfier.. I'd plug them into a surge protector, but then.... I dont have any outlets around the area the items will be. Thus I will have to get an extension cord.

would a 50ft 13 amp cord work? is that enough "amps" er whatever. I just dont want some electrical fire or some such things. yikes!

right on the package the cord is in it will say light duty medium or heavy,,get medium at the least,,heavy duty being the better one,,

15amps would be ideal because most 115v plugs in the household uses 15amp wires. But if your using only a 175watt mh, and all the other stuff everything should be fine on that surge protector.

Its safer to get a 15amp extension because if u get 13 amps and you use 15amp of power your circuit breaker won't trip and break the connection and that 13amp extension might get too hot and melt.

Id get the 15 amp cord but your bigger issue is to make sure you get the correct powerstrip as the cheap wal mart kind are easy to melt. Go to like home depot and they have the kind that tell you the total amprage and voltage they can handle and most offer insurnace on the equiptment they are pluuged in with.They run about $15 to $60.If you have a closet light its cheaper safer and easier to just remove the lioght socket and put a wall outlet in for about 2 bucks and 5 minutes of work just need a screw driver.

go for a 13amp 2000w cord, and extstend it to the full, as that will stop it from geting hott, are you 115v?

my fricken circuit breaker trips quite often, faulty ass wiring. i had 2 computers, a personal heater, and a blowdryer on.. and it went. hopefully this wont be happening with the lights.

what ill be having plugged in is the 175watt MH, The air pump, and a fan, maybe an air purifier later?

if you are in the usa, i think this is wott you need,,25' Extension Cord 16/3 Single

get 15 amp rated,but like fletch said you need a quality surge protector,your only as strong as your weakest link.

katie u should be golden, i brought those cheap no name brand ones at walmart with 6 outlet and i run 6 shoplight on them and its fine, no heat or nothing. 6 shoplight equals 12 45watt 4ft flouro tubes, thats 540 watt total more then what your using.

Id use the rca one it should be ok and the thing you have in the picture is related to smoke detector and gas detection relay systems so leave it alone lol.
