yo. u dont whanna do it outdoors in a shed. the boys dont need search warrants for those. either in the basemant or the attic. those are the best spots. i was gonna say get one 400W for your 6x6 room, or turn that 6x6 room into 2 3x3 rooms, and get two 250W, have a veg, and flower room going...... more buds comin in, more green comin in....Pe@ce

Id go with the attic for ventilation and odor control. It will keep most of the smell above them and maybe even shoot it out the roof of your place.
My parents tried in there basement(5' ceilings) and there was piss poor ventalation so nothing would grown in there. It was surrounded by a grade wall so it woulda been tough to rigg something

Man I feel you about your lady. I had problems getting my old lady on board. She is a heavy smoker but she doesnt have to buy the shit, thats what Im for lol. I had to lay down the law and tell her it was going on.
Once I get some free bud she should be happy though

My cousin brought some cronic over - $50 an 1/8th stuff the other day and it had a seed. I pointed it out to him when he broke it up so i could germ it. We got a few hits through it when I noticed it in the pipe. I then pointed it out and he said "oh its gone now, its already torched". The next hit he took it popped. That makes such a waste of such good tastin weed, as well as a future harvest.

thanks for the heads up

Thinking ahead I am thinking i will have a lack of heat issue when the winter gets here (michigan).

I'm thinking of going in the basement for a more controlled temperature.

Well I finally got her on board but now shes being stupid about me going to the store to get supplies. She always pulls the "why do you have to do it RIGHT now" or "we don't have the money"

1. Its ALWAYS RIGHT NOW, and its never a good time for me to run to the store to go get it, Its always an argument about how I get started on something but never finish it (mostly because she always bitches about stuff that I have to go do).

2. my plan was to buy supplies as needed with the limited time I have to work on it. I seriously think I could get away with buying $20/week worth of stuff and have a slow build.

An HPS would be better for yield but not the best thing if you have to move your grow room. You will need a fan and duct work to cool it and that would be a pain to take down and set up again. If you're going to have to move it I would go with cfls.

Dude, your wife sounds like mine! I think as long as we are as low key as possible and it is not an inconvenience to them, they will forget about the whole thing. ITs good that you told her cause I HATE SURPRISES AND HATE SURPRISING PEOPLE! Hope it all works out for you..... and ME! lol

The more I read, the more I realize that maybe there is another person like me in the world besides me. lol

I'm glad to see that you are choosing the stealth method and I am as well. I definitely want to keep in touch with you to see your progress. I just bought a shit load of stuff for my cabinet and plan on drilling and installing this weekend. The most expensive thing I purchased for this whole project was the light (400HPS) and I made a cool tube for it myself (link in my signature).

Here's my cab, but I'm scared to drill cause I don't wanna fuck up anything.

I'd use cfl's long enough for the ol' lady to see that it really is possible to grow your own nugs.
Cool thing about a basement is they never get too hot really. You could have a 400 hps in a basement no prob as long as you have a couple of fans blowing. And you don't have to worry about damaging floors with run off water etc. Humidity can be a problem tho'.
Use bag seed. Any weed can be good weed if it's seedless and not pressed into a brick.
You and her both should check out the Grow Journals who use cfl's. People grow some killer Kill with cfl's and some decent nutes.

A 400 watter in here is going to be hot as hell, you'll need the doors open and fan blowing for the entire time the lamp is on.

I'm new too but have enough knowledge to say that cfl's arent your worst bet an ordinary light bulb would be worse,cfl's keep cool and won't burn a plant however a metal halide or a high pressure sodium bulb would be best ...but they are EXPENSIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

YOu got a good beginning of a set up, like the guy said tho you will have to do something about the heat.

I put a photo below of what I have to start with. Like I said i don't have enough time to do alot but when I get it kickin Ill prob do a grow journal, I think that will help me stay motivated with people watchin and what not.

I think what I want to do is take 3 powerstrips, one on the left, one on top (adjustable to the height of plant) and one on the right. Do 2 26 watt 6500's on the left and right, then 3 y bulb adapters on the strip on the top with 6 of the same bulbs to veg. I figure with that it should be enough light for 2-3 fems - topped and scrog'd. What do you all think?

Another thing is I wanted to put this in my larger shed but I think there will be an issue with the temp in the winter (its insulated, but not heated and its like 12x16 or somethin so i dont want to heat the thing. Maybe heat pad?

I really want to put it in the basement but this motha trucka is HEAVY!

I'm afraid you might be right so far! I just plugged the 400 watt cool tube up with a 4' duct fan and the temps reached like 92 in 20 minutes. But that's with no ventilation holes in it yet. Will continue my drilling tomorrow. Hope it helps some. The fan is sucking the air instead of pulling it. I plan on drilling a hole in the bottom for intake and another at the top for exhaust and attach a 30 CFM pc fan to it. Hope it cools me down a little.

Well if you want to put it in the basement ALONE... flip it upside down and slide it down the steps. Works good if you have carpet. I live in an apartment and had to carry my cabup a flight of stair by myself.

You're right! Did some temperature test last night and it got pretty warm. Warm enough not to turn the central heat on to heat the room. Its winter temps outside so if I open the window, it will even out.

well i got the box down in the basement, I picked up a 27 watt daytime to get me started, 2 2 way splitters and 2 bulb sockets that plug right into the electrical socket.

I have two seeds that germed planted in two dixie cups to get me started.

I will have pictures as soon as I am proud to post it online: I still have to fix up the drawer fronts, I want to nail them together and make it look like the drawers are still there but you can grab it and open it like a door. right now i got my light runnin 24k till they poke up through the ground. The cool thing is even though my dresser is only like 2 1/2 feet tall, the part of the basement I am putting it in has dirt floors, so I can actually dig down as far as the pot goes and grow a halfway decent sized plant without restricting it TOO much because of the lack of height.

I am having trouble finding the mylar wrapping paper, I can only find the regular paper, any tips? I heard I can go to wally world to pick up some emergency blankets, I might have to do that soon too.

If you cant find mylar you can always use aluminum foil. Its not as good but does the job and its cheaper. If I understood correctly you re gonna use 3 cfl lights? If so it is a good start but soon you will need more. When the plants reach the flowering stage they will need at least 5-12 cfls each depending on size. If you wanna grow 3 female plants you have to germinate at leat 10... Keep in mind that of 10 seeds about 5 are males and some of them will not germinate at all and some will be too weak to be worth it... So plan ahead and germinate alot more than you will be needing. I sugest buying seeds that are feminized from the internet. I have done it and its pretty save to do. Its worth it because you get only females and because THC levels are based on the genetics the plants will make way better buds than any bagseed. Good luck with your grow!

I'm going to hold of until i have a chance to get an emergency blanket, i hear its really cheap when you find one. I was plannin on using 2 lights per plant until they get a few inches high and then ill prob do a "quattro" (3- 2 way splitters making 4 lights per. I will be topping to get a nice short grow with hopefully alot of small bud spots. I think I will have room to do 3 short plants so I will be germin a few seeds a week until i get what i need. I agree, I really should buy some seeds! Oh well, until i start saving money buy NOT buyin I won't really be able to invest a whole lot. Where would be the best/cheapest place to purchase a few feminized seeds?

Well i germed and planted two seeds. I had mixed bag seed from the last few weeks. I attempted to save the good seeds in another bag and I think I got high and mixed them together when my cousin needed a dime bag and i needed one of the baggies.

:::ROLLS THE DICE:::::

They both broke ground and popped their heads upright this morning. On one of the seedlings the stem is purple and underneath the leaves is as well. Not a concern, but may this be an indication of one of the good strains? Man that would be nice....

At any rate I attempted to take some pics but i guess my camera sucks, it didn't come out at all trying to get close to 'em.

I still have to work on the front door of the dresser as well as get an emergency blanket. I gotta watch the kids this weeken so Ill pick som up on my way home from work and grab a pic or two of my set up when I do. I might even start a grow journal.
