look into quantum boards from a company like hlg or timber, you can dial them down so they're suitable for seedlings, then gradually turn them up till you're in flower. the new strip lighting looks good too, but i haven't looked into it much.
almost everyone starts with what they can afford to start with and upgrade as they go, if it turns out you enjoy doing this, you'll do the research and start buying new stuff soon enough...welcome to my addiction
@Roger A. Shrubber - question: are rhose quantum boards from Timber white or blurple? Newbie mysef and just thinking about next grow!

Definitely appreciate the information, I looked into the quantum boards just now and the prices for them don’t look too bad . Since this is my first grow I’m going to try out these LEDs, I would feel like I wasted my money on the LED if I just switched it out already lol. I’m actually really enjoying growing my own weed.
Its good fun isn't it? I prefer growing more than smoking..lol

Old lights don't go to waste so don't be disappointed if it doesn't do what you want it to do. (hoping it does of cause). if ya get into the hobby you may need old lights, filters, ducting etc..so don't throw anything away if and when you upgrade stuff.

If your looking at LED then also consider strips. A few threads etc on these in the LED section. They can work out extremely good value.

Yeah I’ve always stayed away from led but you know let the guy see it through and see if he likes his results.
Led isnt the problem.

Uninformed people buying cheap garbage from Chyna, and the fuckin nerve those company's have to lie to people about actual watts.your light might be 140w if your lucky

Build your own or start with hps like the rest until you get the basics figured out

Hey sorry for coming off wrong, I just looked at the dirt and suggested it needs to be changed or up pot into something better. The light is not great but it will grow you something!
It’s cool man I actually bought some fox farm ocean soil and it should be here by tomorrow , I keep hearing my light isn’t the best... what light would you suggest I buy? Something in the $80-$90 though lol thanks again!

for around that range you should be able to get a 400w magnetic HPS ballast, bulb, and hood used. Not too expensive new either. take a look at some local buy/sell

T5s are expensive to make work for a flower light...Probably not the best choice considering.
Strips or HID/HPS would be my pick just based on cost.

Yeah, a small tent and 400w hps will net you a half a lb probably ,

i've seen some pretty impressive pics on here of people flowering with the strips, i'm considering getting a few to try out, myself
I'm loving the strips and it was easy to build, and no heat syncs

i was thinking a Hps light but I heard they consume a lot of electricity compared to the LED I have. I looked around and I came across theses t5 lights. Would these T5 lights be consuming more power?

Your not going to be 100 percent efficient and perfect on your first round.

HPS is easy and there's tonns of info out there about them.

400-600w is a good start

The difference in efficiency is like 40$ a month.. Considering your growing a crop worth 1000-4000$ depending how ya think about it

you already have a light that's plenty good to veg with. i'd suggest using the light you have for now, and buying a few strips to supplement it. if you can afford it, buy them all at once, if you can't, buy them as you can, and replace your current light completely when you have enough strips.

his problem would be how to dump the heat, i don't think he's running an extraction fan...
when you say you have a 6 inch fan, do you mean a 6 inch across floor fan that blows on your plants, or do you mean a 6 inch extraction fan hooked to ducting and venting somewhere else?
