Bought a 2x4 @7'11" tent. Never grown inside before. I am looking at a Timber 4vl, it seems to have the good footprint I want. I also like the optic gen3 605w, but I am unsure because it doesn't seem to have a dimmer, and it it designed for a 4x4 or a little larger. Any constructive advice would be appreciated. Not ready to build my own setup yet, just wanting something that will do well past my learning stages.

AirWalker, that light is like the gen6 I looked at, like it on paper, only concern is no dimmer.

1212, You don't think the 3500K helps for full cycle grow? Saw as option.

Color temp. is a never ending debate, but I think the trend is toward 3000k now. Not a lot of difference between 3000k and 3500.

yeah airwalker linked the manufacturer of the optic 6.

i wouldn't get the optic 6 its way too much light for a 2x4. the 4vl is borderline too much.

3vl or 4vl would work. you could get by with the 3vl for sure.

you won't notice a difference between 3500k and 3000k.

Ok, great. Helps a lot with me decision fellas. Thanks.

I was thinking I could get a stronger light because I have so much vertical space to work with. So, having the spread of the fourth light won't be as bennificial as too much light is harmful?

I plan 2 plants and make them as wide as possible.

you could get 400w and raise the light higher. but the gain in light wouldn't be worth the extra heat/venting/electricity consumption imo.

35 watts per square foot of canopy is a good rule of thumb.

i guess the best solution would be to get the 400 and run it at 300w using the dimmer, then u get the spread of the fourth cob but don't have the extra heat. but again, not really necessary imo.
