I live in a sad world.

I am sad to say that I live in a world where the sickest of the sick and all the other sick people in this state are not even worth $2000. The Carruthers appeal has not even been able to bring in that much. That number does not include what came in from the bake sale but it was not much. How can this be happening? How can so many not care even when it affects them? I fully understand that some cant but I also know that some can and obviously will not. I do not want to add negativity to the effort so I brought my rant here. The reality is I should just keep my mouth shut and I try too but sometimes it weighs so heavy on my heart that I cannot........... If this ruling ,and make no mistake about it that is what it is about, is left as is then a true travesty will have been committed.

I will not stop pushing the issue and hope others do not stop either. Onward and forward.

Sorry for the rant.....

My world just go sadder too. I just found out my insurance doesn't pay anything towards my cancer meds until I've paid 5k then it will be over 500 a month for the rest of the year. The medicine runs about 2500 a month if you don't have any insurance. So about 10k a year for my meds. :cuss:

Ozz, I mean no disrespect with this, but this fund is set up to pay lawyers correct? The only attorney that I trust and feel is on our side, is one willing to work for the cause, not $$$. These attorneys are in a much better financial position to be donating their time than most medical marijuana patients are to be donating their money. Again, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't this legal team opt to push this case beyond the section 8 protection that they would have been afforded? I'm no attorney, so I won't comment on the legal implications of their strategy, but they certainly stand to make a lot more money now that this is being dragged through the full 100 yards of mud.

I agree with you 100% that this case will impact all of us. But will the outcome be any more favorable if this law firm makes $100k out of the deal instead of $80k? Will the attorneys only represent him well if they earn x amount of dollars?

I hope I'm not totally off base here. I know what you're doing comes out of compassion and the goodness of your heart. I respect you a great deal for that. I also wish nothing but the best for Mr Carruthers. We can all agree that what's happening to him is complete bullshit .....I'm just not quite sure what to think about the rest of it.

I hear you St0w. And it is a bottomless well to throw cash into, potentially. The cause is good despite all the players. I wish there were less expensive ways to file legal motions etc.

I will be in touch with you woods. I haven't forgotten about you.

I hope things improve for you bro. Insurance companies are blood suckers. They reap profit by denying claims. It's embarrassing that a country as wealthy as ours has people being ruined due to uncontrollable circumstances.

Thanx Stow..........This was posted some time ago

"After many meetings with attorneys we finally finalized the attorney team on Saturday, August 24th. The team will consist of Appellate Attorney Stuart Friedman and Co-Counsel Michael Kormon & Neil Rockind. We can call them the "Brownie Dream Team(BDT)"

I agree about the lawyers and not having to make all the money but it is not my choice what they make. All I know is that this has to get fixed. And if it is not fixed by this then it will be a lONGGGGGGGG wait to get the obvious fixed. More people will go to jail unjustly because of this blatant, ridiculous, biased decision. It has to stop.

One of our patients is attempting to bring an old friend of his to the traverse city conference.

I am praying he takes up our cause.

I hear ya on the BS medical/ins industry. I went from paying my regular doc office visit copay for a remicade IV treatment (20.00), to paying the 20.00 office visit and 3000.00 a pop for each monthly IV treatment. woo hoo, 3000.00 I don't even make a month and now that's my cost. heres a big F U medical industry.

side note, im making a batch of super potent brownies today. 2 boxes of chocolate chunk (dunkin Heinz) and 14 grams of dry ice hash :)

Single payer universal health care is what we should have. Anything short of that is not acceptable, imo.

^The Canadian fed+province tax rate is still lower then most US fed+state tax rates
too. Who the F is doing the books around here?

Yeah, it depends where you live. My folks pay a flat 5% GST tax in Alberta. My brother living in Ontario pays the GST plus a provincial sales tax of 8% for a total of 13%.

I'm thinkin'

that regular attendance at GC3 with a booth that raises funds is not a bad idea. We can ask Jeremy if he is willing to offer a booth for the cause. Any of us can enjoy any other accommodations that he permits while people operate it. Shifts are typically four hours.
