in a last ditch effort i made the mistake of buying some MG organic potting soil.. It's been about a week since i transplanted them, and it seems like the soil is retaining the water... Its so fucking thick and has almost no perlite in it...
got any suggestions on what i can do to amend the soil in the containers i have them in to improve drainage .. ??
... can you add perlite after it's in the container already??

Transplanted them from what?
How old are the plants?
Do you have an old bean bag laying around?

I transplanted them from 8 oz cups to 6x6 square pots.. they're clones that were about a month old, transplanted from Roots Organic to the MG organic ..
no ..no bean bags laying around.
didn't realize i left out all the detail.. sorry.. but the plants are obviously stressed from both the transplant and moisture retention of the soil. I transplanted them 4 days before switching to flower. they've been in flower about 4 days so far.

first of all a 6' by 6' square pot will not be enough for a large flowering plant. My only suggestion is to let the soil dry out and transplant them into a larger container that has either rocks or hydroton layered on the bottom and soil that is haevily amended with some vermiculite and pearlite. This worked for me my last grow but I though I would change things a bit...bad idea.

thanks for the tip... however these are 6x6x8 inch square pots .. for 6 inch single stemmed clones .. I have flowered two similar plants in these pots ....They had more than enough root space ..
My last batch didn't come no where near being rootbound.. but i think i may take your advice and repot them into OF that i have now ..
it's gonna be alot of stress during flowering though... I Thank you for the tip my man!

You could add some perlite just carefully pull the plant out of the pot and let the excess dirt fall off and just be careful to not do too much damage to the roots then mix perlite in the excess, she will be fine.

thanks cadilllac ... that sounds like a little easier solution since the root system hasn't been completely in tact with the new soil at this stage..
but beware MG organic buyers ... this shit is like using mud if you don't amend it. I've never had a plants show so much stress from transplant or overwatering since i first started growing ( not very long ago) ... point is .. This soil imo has POOOOOOOOR drainage.

I used mg organic when I was a noob it worked okay for me but it gave me gnats. I would say just dont water it so often. If the soil is wet... then dont water them. They will let you know when they really need water (like droopie sad look) and when you water them atfer that they perk right up. It wont damage the plant its actually good for it to let the soil dry out a little once in a while. I use promix now...better for MJ IMO

like i said it was a last ditch thing to grab some soil and i heard a few good reviews on it. But that's what's pissing me off. I can see the plants need nitrogen and i know i have at least 2-3 days before the water gets remotely dry. If i had known how sucky the drainage was, i would've never used as much water when i transplanted.

Dont get me wrong, I did get some fat dank forearm colas though with straight mg organic, bagseed, and jacks classics nutes. Lighting and fans has a lot to do with it also and poor lighting or air circulation will keep your soil from drying out also. NEED NITROGEN!? mg organic is full of nitrogen its got a rack of composted chicken poo poo in there and thats all nitrogen. Would be really good soil for mj IMO with 25% perlite.
