ok so all of my grows have been in a sealed room with a dehumidifier and AC ,

i am now setting up my first grow with a vent system
, my setup is in a closet of my bedroom with 2x400w hps and 8 plants (hopefully 4 female). so as far as when lights are on i just keep the closet door wide open with a box fan blowing over the plants and lights to keep it cool.

i keep my bedroom door or window cracked a all times so the humidity and air dont build up in the bedroom itself (8 plants transpire ALOT lol)

ok so now all is good, except i start budding soon, and i will be turning off lights and shutting the closet door for 12/12,

so all i need is ventilation for the dark cycle to keep the humidity down the small closet packed with plants wont get mildew.

i just need to know about what kind of CFM is needed, to remove all humidity from the 8 plants(4female)

prety much how fast do i need to vent the air in the cloet so the humidity gets no chance to build up

-------------------------------------------------------------

i have a1 inch 1000 cfm vortex fan i got for 250$ i was gana use for lights on and off

but the damn thing is way to loud and just too industrial for what im doing (massive overkill on my part)

but anyway do u guys think i can just use a good bathroom exhasut fan from walkmart?? i realy dont want ANY humidity built up when i off the lights and shut the door, this strain is prone to mold i grew it in a basement b4 and had mildew all over the fan leaves

im just worried tha ta bathroom exhaust fan wont remove the humidity build up fast enough

closet is 4x5x8 with 4 or 5 females all in 5 gallon pots (soiless coco)

maby i will get 2 or 3 bathroom exhast fans and run them all just to be shur, lol me and overkill i tell ya lol

but ya what u guys think, i need advise

So you have about 160 cubic feet you need to suck out I always like to go a little bigger in cfm then the rooms cubic feet take a look here these fans are very very quite.

Here is another inline blower but I dont know if it's quite but damm the price is cheap and look at the cfm wow this web site also offers water pumps that will work great in hydro set up's check em out

Well first i have used a bathroom fan as you stated and i have to say that it is most definitely loud and very industrial sounding however it did move plenty of air and would be fine to just move the air through your room. The T&D fans that the previous poster linked you too is the hole grail of quiet yet powerful ventilation from what I've read, when i have the money that is most definitely what i'm upgrading to. So id say drop that vortex on ebay and use the money you get to buy a T&D

edit: also i've done a good amount of research on that second blower fan that he linked and again from what i've read and not actual personal experience, they are very loud, i think i read some called it a jet engine. If youre looking for a cheap alternative like that look into the stanley blower, or lasko utility blower, or air king utility blower. They are all the same blower and there are plenty of tutorials on how to modify them into a grow set up. Some just use them as standalone units and leave them as they are. Here is a link to a version at lowes. Youre in luck as with spring here fans and what not are back in season.

well i dont realy need a quiet fan, noise and stealth are not to much of a problem, hell my computer fans running sound liek a hair dryer lol ( i went overkill on them too)

what the problem is is that the fan is just TOO big ,

its 10 inch 1000 CFM!! way to big for what i need.

i was looking into bathroom fans at lowes and thay have a 180 CFm fan for 50$, i might get

its just i thought i needed 1000 cfm, i did my math for summer temps (90f) and how muc hlight i had, and i was gana need 1000 cfm to keep it cool in summer lights on

but then i realized i can just keep the closet door open with a box fan,

and so now all i need a a humidity vent for light off (door shut box fan off)

so i just needed to know how much CFM to keep the humidity down, i would think it has more to do with how much plant mass there is and less about how big the room is, cuz its the plant mass that transpires the moisture to the air

but if the abaove poster is right i should be fine with 200 CFM??

and if so i think any 200 CFM fan no matter how loud, would not be too loud for me. as i dont see any 200 cfm fan maken anywere near the noise of the 1000 cfm fan

also i dont have time to sell my fan and order a new one, my friends dad might by the vortex fan from me for 150$ cash ( i paid 240$). so im thinking i will just eat the 100$ and chalk it up to experiance, then drive out to lowes and pick up 1 of them 180 cfm bathroom fans

im just woried 180 cfm wont exhaust the humisity fast enough the closet will be full of big budding plants letting off massive amounts of water vapor, but them again i do overthink everything lol

here is the fan im looken at http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=89247-14-509S&detail=&lpage=none

OK ok yea if thats the case then screw the 50 buck one they have $12 bathroom fan at lowes or homedepot that is 50 cfm. I really doubt that your plants can transpire enough water during the night to warrant whole room extraction at more than once a minute that you get with 200 cfm. But hey i could most definitely be wrong and it could be a sauna in there at night. So i say make the call your self on what you need by what you feel in your grow room at night but 50 cfm at just under 1 whole room extraction every three minutes, i think would be plenty.

I run 1400 cfm of exhaust in my 950 cubic feet bloom room. Two inlines for the lights one turbine for the room inlines for lights come on with the lights the big turbine connected to thermostat/humidity controller never had problems with moister the big turbine will kick on for a few minutes then turns off saves lots off electricity that way. Well good luck with your grow hope it all turns out well. Buy superthrive your plants will love it stop useing a few weeks before harvest.
