10 Gall bucket w/lid = 4$ at a grocery store is how I got mine. From Local Hydro store...6 net pots 30 Cents each. a bag of Hydroton I prefer to wash it vigorously before use! About 7-15$ (depends on how much you need) I paid 7$ Air Pump I would say do not skimp on a good quality one I bought a dual pump for each bucket. 8$ each! on Sale! quarter inch tubing for the pumps about 3 feet per nozzle to nozzle. 12" airstones 1.50$ rockwool cubes 5$ a QUALITY PH kit or ph meter depends on how you want to measure your ph. I prefer Kits over Digital if you are new to it and are looking for a less expensive alternate. 20$

about 45-50$ to get up and running today. Seek youtube videos on DWC/Bubbleponics for a good idea on how to setup.

You need a pH meter, calibration solution, and pH up and down.
Those are the most important things in a hydro grow. Here is a good link showing how to build a DWC:
https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/97378-diy-3-gallon-rubbermaid-dwc.html
I would not even make the system without having a pH meter first, that is the most important part of growing hydroponically
Thats right :) And if you cant afford a ph meter, there is also a tiny kit that has you take a water sample and after a few drops of this solution you will know your exact ph..price $5.00 Thats what I have been using :) But, its best to get an actual meter. Peace & good luck :)

It isn't that you prefer to wash the hydroton, you HAVE to. There will be so much crap washed into your rez and it will ruin your pH
The kits do not work if you use nutrients that change the color of the water. There is nothing more reliable than a good pH meter
How do you expect to get an accurate reading when your nutes are already a dark color to begin with?

Right on Tom those kits dnt work well, I had huge PH problems using those. Its impossible to maintain a range, after getting a pair of ebay $14 meters Ive been able to keep PH within .1 of my 5.7 goal and I found out my PH was actually in the 7.5 range!! Andddd its tons easier to flick a switch n dip the meter for a few secs than those damn drippers.

Get a meter.:weed:

im not worried about prices. i have about 200$ to spend. im trying to get some of the best equipment.
but anyways. would they sell most of these things as far as digital PH readers and the others in a hydro store?

Works just fine for me each and everyday. Its impossible to maintain a range? There not suppose to maintain a range, there suppose to give you your ph level instantly and thats it. LOL! :) I just thought the dude was on a tight budget, and I was only giving him the cheapest option.

I just lift up the lid a little bit, slide it to the side and pour water in. Never had a problem doing it like this either.

there are other ways to do it though. You can drill a hole in the lid to pout water through if you want to. And then just find something to plug it with...

Use your imagination... Be inventive. :-)
