I need help with clones, i have about a 50% success rate

My first attempt at cloning i mixed 50/50 Light Warrior from FF, and Roots Organic. I filled little 4in x 4in square black pots with the mix and took clones about 6 or so inch tall, used a chopstick to make a hole, dipped them in Clonex, and put them in a humidity dome 100% humidity for 1 week then took off the dome. They all came through but took a very long time to root. Also used a seedling mat and T5's.

This time i tried to use Rapid Rooters and took little clones maybe 3 in max, Clonex, put them in pre-drilled hole, and every thing the same.

Half of them died, and when i peeled back some of the rooter to see if roots were forming after a week they wern't. I didnt do that to all of them just some.

I like the idea of Rockwool, and i also like the idea of a beer cup filled with... WHAT WOULD I FILL IT WITH?

I need something that will be good for organics, with low maintenance ( fulltime job, just had a baby ) something that will stay wet for a whole day.

Please give me some tips and tricks

clone clipping help...

My score went from 50% to 100% survival rate when the originating plant is on the brink of N deficiency and the stems are healed from being pre-pinched. You could try that with rapid rooters. Don't mix roots with warrior, that's retarded. Just use the warrior.

Did you scrape down the sides a bit before putting the clonex on? Did you cut a new 60 degree angle at the tip after pulling it out of a cup of water? Also sometimes it can take a good 2 weeks+ to form roots, especially if you took the clones during flowering :)

Rooting can take up to two weeks to set.

If your clones are dying, it probably has something to do with the excessive humidity and watering. Roots will not grow if over saturated. Drop your humidity levels more around 80-90%, and water less.

If that doesn't fix it, your probably either not using clean tools(each tool should be cleaned with alcohol before and after cloning cuttings are taken), or your simply not doing it right...by way of pinching and/or creating an air embolism in the stem.

More often than not, clones will root despite of ourselves. It's when we overdo it or do it wrong that they die.

They are never taken from a flowering plant, I spray the foliage with distilled water 3 days before to insure less nitrogen in the mother plant, I mix the Light Warrior 50/50 with organic soil because have you ever tried to take a clean transplant when all you have to hold the root ball together is Light Warrior? Doing that is fucking retarded, thats why i mix it with soil. I do use a clean, new razor every time, yes i make another 45 deg. cut after its been sittn in water to avoid an embolism, and no I dont scrape the steam ( I will start ) but i do cut the stem long ways up about an inch, then dip in clonex.

How many nodes do you need above soil, how much stem needs to be in soil, and how tall should the clone be all together?
