I got my strips and driver in today! i shouldnve done it before butt i haven't figured out what i want to do with the frame yet. also with how wobbly they are in videos i'm thinking i'm going to need a 1/16th" alum strip on the back of them just for structure, and also so they don't look like an eighty year old woman sagging down lol.

I'm probably gonna get some angle alum for the frame but we will see, i'll open up the box and get some better ideas later on

If those are the single row Samsungs, they fit nicely on Heatsink USA's .601 stock, with is dirt cheap at about $1 per foot.

They're the eb2 44" strips. I was going to order the heatsinks from heatsinks USA but shipping would cost more than the heatsinks and I'm in the u.s. lol

So here's an idea for the frame.

45x45 frame made out of 1x1x1/8th" alum angel
44x44 area for placing the strips

2x 45" alum angle placed opposite of each other

2x 44 1/4" angle alum opposite of each other placed inside 45" piece

3cm of spacing is roughly 24in of empty space and frees 20in for space the light bars which should leave 1/2 on either side of the buttom frame.

If any of you wanna take the time to read through this post and let me know if in making any calculation errors please let me know lol.

I need to watch some wiring videos too but I think I'm headed the right direction

Ahh, well the EB's don't fit the .601 profile anyway. You have to use the 1.00 inch and its twice as much. Yeah, with small quantities you kinda get killed on shipping - when I ordered a dozen 22" sinks shipping was almost half the total, but when I ordered 100 24" sinks it was only about 20% of the total.

I would go with 1" "architectural" U-channel and Angle. Its usually quite a bit cheaper than the 1x1x1/8 inch. Half the weight too.

The U-channel is much better than flat aluminum. 1/8 flat stock will actually sag at 44 inches. U-channel will not sag at all and has five times the surface area for heat dissipation.

You're the man seriously! I know about u channel but completely spaced on it lol, thanks for saving me a few bucks man :)

not even sure the flat alum wouldn't flex anyway

If your mounting the strips on U-channel than just leave an extra inch past the channel on each side then you can use that extra inch to mount to a piece of angle on each side by drilling a hole and putting a bolt through. That way you only need two pieces of angle for your whole frame and it will be plenty solid. Then drill a hole at each end of the angle for your hangers.

Even glue will hold it together quite well. I used RTV on the ones I'm using.

Does anybody know why the HLG600's have a extra power out? also does anyone know what the rc +/- and +5vss is? looking online it seems like it's for a remote of some sort, like a on off switch?

I figured out the hlg600 with the help from someone, the rc us just a remote on off and the second power out is just a 2nd power out lol

I bought some 1" 1/8th" thick angle (25ft sections cut into 48 and 46" pieces for $26)

I still need some c channel but I can't find it anywhere except home depot but for almost 80ft they want something like $100 for 1" 1/16" thick so I'm gonna keep searching

So i built my frame and hung up my lights but i honestly can't figure out how to get the wire to stick into the the positive and negative terminals on the strip lol, can anyone help?

Well-Known Member
No you just stick the wire in the hole and it locks in place, if you want to remove the wire you have to push down on the little tab that's over the wire.
