i wrote "RIU, fdd, an '09" on the inside. then i fumed it. then i did a "coil-wrap" and honeycombed it. made a cool horn for the side. annealed it for 6 hours. pulled it outta the kiln 5 mins ago. it cracked.
the 18mm slide looks cool.

I am going to put my neck on the line here. Chitown is right. That is not a $45 piece; not even a $20 piece. Not even at a head shop with a ton of markup. It is unrefined and sloppy looking. I hope that spoon came with a sample of some of FDD's finest green.

hay fdd your very well respected here do you think i could borrow you and some of your time to clean something up on another thread? send me a pm and i will tell u whats up and link you to this situation.
the pipe the OP bought is a "blow-in". it is a piece of cobalt rolled onto silver filings. then it is fully melted and dropped into a clear tube and "blown-in" to stretch to fit the inside of the sleeve it was dropped into. then it is all melted together and shaped.

I was just showing prices which coincide with my head shop (which has commercial and local glass).
If you can get away with charging $45; by all means do so. I know you can / will make better pieces.

no worries... 6 bucks or no im still amazingly happy with my purchase..then go to your "boy". pretty simple. no need to clown my work though. i've been at this about 6 months now.
25 plus the 5 dollars priority mail puts it to 30. the box i sent it in was another 3. didn't realize an empty box costs that much. then the free toy surprise and the packaging. i sold it thru "etsy" so there was a "listing fee" as well.

so damn... i didnt know that posting the bowl would start such a crazy thread... the truth is regardless of what anyone would or would not have paid for the bowl i purchased it and am completely happy with it..
it hits great.. holds an amount of weed i look for a bowl to hold... is damn cool to look at... and is original... not the mass produced pieces that are flooding the head shops in my area..
i know other glass blowers.. im good friends with at least 3 other guys that blow glass... and im sure i could have had them blow something if i wanted... but i was really into this bowl... and spending 45 on something i like, regardless of what anyone thinks, really doesnt bother me...
