I've sprayed all of my plants in the last two days with Safer's Caterpiller Killer and i'm still finding caterpillers all over the place. still chomping away at my beautiful nugs. is this stuff supposed to take a few days to work???

and ideas on what will work???

most of the plants are past week 4 of flowering.

it's not a 1 shot cure, it kills em' but they hide inside the buds, and come in off trees nearby too. You have to spray and pick, spray and pick. But if you spray really good, and soak the buds good, the next day they should be coming out and dying. It's an uphill battle, good luck!

I use Spinosad, it's a bacteria that kills them from the inside out. I saw one budworm 2 weeks ago and soaked my buds with spinosad.....not a mist but a concentrated jet so it got inside there. I'm surprised I havent seen any more yet, but if I do I'll just spray again.

You can't always see them, but if you inspect up and down the bud/stems and see dead material anywhere, that's probably the damage from them

It may take a bit and the later you start spraying (especially with a infestation underway) the longer it takes.

BT is best used as a preventative. If you start spraying early, before you see any caterpillars you have a good chance of never seeing any.

Here is the 2011 outdoor crop, started spraying at 1ft. twice a week (2tsp per gal http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OBIP20/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000GA7ZO8&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0T32VQ57WMZ9VH7N11ZT , whole gallon sprayed each time over 4 plants total) So far zero caterpillars found. Last 2 seasons we had them bad.

I know that doesn't help you now but next season it will.

That's a big thing, that most people miss. You can't jst spray with a pump sprayer, unless you take the time to really soak the buds good everywhere. I don't know why more people don't use the hose-end dial-type sprayers. You just dump that 8oz bottle of BT in there, set it on a tbls or 2 per gallon, and soak the hell outta them in just a few minutes. And if your plants are 10 ft tall, you don't have to get on a LADDER and you can hit the tops really well.

I spray once weekly with neem oil, azamax, and caterpillar killer, as well as picking through my buds for 2 hours a day checking for more caterpillars.
And they still show up. lol

I don't really mess around with the safety equipment that much, my grow isn't that big so it consists of a spray bottle and whatever I'm spraying. Just be sure you don't spray into the wind so it doesn't blow back on you, and don't wipe your face/skin or anything with your hands before washing them when you use it.

I wear latex gloves with Spinosad, although contact with the skin won't hurt you. Mostly because my one hand is moving branches around so I can spray in the buds. Maybe not necesary, but what the hell. When using pyrytheum (sp) I make sure not to get it on me, that stuff IS poison
