so i got legal when i got my taxes back, bought all my stuff, my tent my aeroponics system nutes ph and ppm meters timers cords etc etc etc. i did hours of research and decided to go with led a 90w quad spectrum blah blah blah,i figured that would be great for heat cuz im in a 20 by 30 inch tent!, i thought this with a few good cfls would do the trick, well i was wrong:wall:. yea the led and cfls vegged fine had it not been for my own fuck ups im sure they would have done even better but, small leds like the 90w ufos or even 3 of them suck for flowering. if ur investing time and money into a grow just fucking buy hps or something else people. i was warned and didnt listen. just hopeing to help someone from making the same bad choices i made

yeah at this point in time the only way to go with led lights is to go all out and buy the strongest which is like $600-1500 for a decent one , but if your growing for like 5yrs or longer u would make your money back +the no heat issue

You'd make you're money back off a different system in about 3 months...the electrical differences are nominal and take years to recoup and you get a smaller yield...unless you have issues with heat LEDs are a waste of time. I checked it out...for 240w actual watts of LED for sidelights for my 600w HPS it's like $600!

And even if you recouped the money after 5 years, the panels life is only rated for 5 years...so just as youre finally making a profit it'll start dying.

We need to have a thread to explain to people the practical reasons why one would purchase different lights, save n00bs falling for the fairy stories of "a 400w panel is the same as a 1000w HPS and blowing all their cash on a light they may not need...400w LED=1000w HPS...yeah fucking right like.

I am so old school that I won't even give up my magnetic ballasts. I think I'll continue to wait until digital becomes either reliable or repairable. LED's, no, I don't think so.
