Is it safe to chop that bad clump in the picture and be done with it? I know there may be consequences but it's not going away. I fear what's in the hydroton but theres nothing I can do about that. Should I try chopping that crap off before giving up and starting over? I included pics all those white roots are new and parts of my plant look while others look like shit. I amm guessing the shit ones are connected to that brown clump!once roots are rotted, they don't recover. They get replaced. You're looking for healthy new root growth as the sign of improvement.
Thanks. I'll leave it be then. There are new healthy roots and it is not spreading, but it is causing my plant pots of greif but all those white roots are new.Like I just said... its not going to go away.. new growth will grow around it.
If there is healthy looking stuff below it, leave it be and just keep an eye on it for a bit to make sure it doesn't spread.
And thats not really how that works.
Its the same with leaves though. Most major damage won't go away and you have to look at new growth.
Patience is important, sometime you need to just leave things alone and wait. Hydro bad happens fast, recovery is often slow.
You know what... I am so sick of this I'm going to do it right now before the lights go out. Screw those roots! You've gotvkots of new healthy roots. use a STERILE razor blade and cut off the entire blog of rotten roots, and then some of the mass above it as well, if there's any healthy bits above it at all.
Ya cutting them out is absolutely your best bet.You know what... I am so sick of this I'm going to do it right now before the lights go out. Screw those roots!
I found the main root coming down that is the source of all that clump, I grabbed it from right under where it pops out and a little tug just pulled it off. Words cannot explain how satisfying it is to see that disgusting clump go. I just wish there is nothing like that in the hydroton. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Look at what it's doing to my plant. I didn't add any h2o2 or chlorine today and look at the shape of this poor plant lol. I feel bad for it but I've been doing everything I can for it! Hopefully it starts to recover. By next monday I think if I am still having issues I'm just taking clones or get a clone from somewhere.Ya cutting them out is absolutely your best bet.
your using organics in a dwc yeaWhen this is done I'll post the timelapse of this struggle. It would be interesting to see the plant struggle for weeks in fast motion. I'm evil I know.
for one thats not root rot thats build up 2 diff things as u can see the new root line comming out looks a little brown but its still new rootI found the main root coming down that is the source of all that clump, I grabbed it from right under where it pops out and a little tug just pulled it off. It's not root rot Huh? How do you figure that? What would this dark, squishy and deteriorating mass of roots be called then?for one thats not root rot thats build up 2 diff things as u can see the new root line comming out looks a little brown but its still new root
Again, I encourage you to definitely try to recover the best way you can, but know that an unhealthy donor plant has a very low rate of success at rooting any clones from it.I found the main root coming down that is the source of all that clump, I grabbed it from right under where it pops out and a little tug just pulled it off. Correct although I believe what started all this is overheating my room with a new light. I've grown with the exact same food in the same setup before for years with no issues but I stopped growing for 10 years.your using organics in a dwc yea
