So I think I might be getting ripped off but i'm not totally sure, It seems legit but I have doubts, I agreed to buy something so i'm going to follow through but I have concerns, I made a payment and the person is supposed to send me a contract and I looked into it and everything has the name this guys using listed as the name of the owner but i'm worried I might get burned and it would really suck if I work and spend everything for years to pay this guy and in the end get nothing.

What are you trying to buy? Helicopter?
No, but i'm worried it's a scam, it was up for auction but I bid and the guy canceled the auction, then I sent him first payment, now he's supposed to mail me a noterised contract and then send me monthly bills then when it's paid off he is supposed to transfer the title to me.- If anyone can actually help put my mind at ease I would feel better, after the couch I'm pretty nervous - BTW this is for real and you guys are my only friends so i'm hoping you will help

did you get that toilet couch from homer simpson? I knew that my #2 would never go where it needed to be if there was not a connection to the sewer line in my living room.

seriusly, the lawyer is like the Devil's son, you can't get boned when you have one working underneath you
I cant afford one and it would make the whole thing to expensive and I wouldn't be able to do it, Part of why i'm afraid is the guy seems to be intentionally avoiding writing emails detailing our agreement- He will respond to mine but says stuff like just give me a call, makes me think he's trying to avoid records of the agreement or something.

did you find the lawyer yet? RIU should have many, we have a dense populous of satanic people here and without a doubt a few lawyers should be floating somewhere. by the way, i am a professional business owner that gives not one red penny to RIU, but rather a 2 cent canadian penny from my mind

Get a legally binding contract, and get it notarized by an authorized notary.... a contract like that saying "I, John Doe, will give Beardo Doe ______ for $_____ after _____..... In the event of ______ this will happen..." etc.

Make sure you think out all possible ways he could fuck you, or you could fuck him.... and protect yourselves with a legally binding contract... that covers all possible scenarios.. :)

Thank you,
I think I have that coming, and i'm going to call the notary he's using to make sure it's real when it arrives, my concern is that he might not really be the person- But I think the notary should confirm that but i'm not sure, my other concern is that he sells it multiple times or disappears on me and I don't realize it untill i'm done paying- He said I could get title insurance and that that would protect me but the cost is enough that it's probably not justified considering the relitivly low value of what i'm buying, plus the initial cost of the title insurance or a lawyer would be such as to make the purchase impossible for me, I'm hoping i'm just overly worried.

You shouldn't need to pay any crazy money for a lawyer to write up a simple contract, with no loopholes... Or you could write something, and have him/a law office look it over... Shouldn't really be more than $50 for a solid, basic contract composition.. I don't think at least!

The notary should check ID's, and will be there to watch you both sign...

It should be pretty cut and dry dude..... Agree.... Agree on contract.... Sign contract/get it notarized... keep contract... pay.... get your shit... done deal

Worst case - If you don't get your shit, you take your contract to civil claims court (free court, requires no lawyers)... and then sick the law on him... They take that shit SERIOUSLY.

What are you buying though? I'm curious... You should either PM me or REP me with some insight brotha!

Love your music, respect!

Is this a purchase off craigs list? sounds fishy to me. Google the name off the company or person and add the word "scam" and see if you get any hits. If it's a scam it's has certainly happened to others.

If you are buying something that has a title your name goes on it as the owner, the person you owe the debt to their name goes on as a leinholder. This secures the debt you owe them and gives you security that you will indeed own it when you have paid up.
