I came home from work the other day and there was this guy about 55 or so, laying on the flight on the top of the steps. His clothes were torn and there was blood on the walls and on his clothes.
In shock, i asked him if he was ok, and he said "ya i was waiting for someone to wonder why i was just laying here"
I asked him if he wanted me to call him an ambulance but he said no. I helped him up to his apartment (i mean carried) and even had to unlock his apartment cause he was so drunk.
I couldnt decide if I should call the police because he was in his house now not endangering anybody. I decided I should just in case something was up.
The cops came and ended up taking him away in an ambulance because so severely intoxicated. They came and thanked me and told me he was too intoxited to even be alone in his house. he was pretty messed up from falling down the steps already, with the biggest lump ive ever seen an a human head.
The next day he came and thanked for helping and making the right decision. Even though i cost him a 2000 dollar ambulance ride if i chose not to call the police i could have cost him his life.
If not calling to protect others, call for that person. Dont feel bad, Your not the one who made the decisions that put that person in that position, especially when it pertains to alchohal.
But thats just my $.02
