I Want To Go Organic but I'm Afraid of the Animals

Im so glad growing season has almost begun!!! I have almost my whole grow op planned, except the most important part... The soil! I know for a fact I want to do full organic, but I dont want a repeat of last year when i had 5 of my 7 plants ripped up by animals for the nutrients i had in the ground. Last yeAr, i dug holes, filled it with straight peat moss, a little dolomotic lime or whatever, and a couple handfuls of marine cuisine. I also used fox farms liquid nutes trio. The marine cuisine was dried shrimp and dead stuff from the ocean so thats what the animals went after, but the same would happen for blood and bone meal if i used them.

So the question is, do i use straight unfertilized dirt and use the nute trio again, or do i make a nice soil mix and only have to use water to feed them but have to find something to deter the animals?
Is there certain nutrients to add to soil that dont attract animals?
Can i use a deterant that is full proof enough to trust in protecting Master kush and Swiss Cheese?
Any tips from you master growers?

If you are fortunate enough to be growing on your own property just get a dog. Then only one animal to keep from digging. If that is a nonoption, you could always go with Veganics instead of Organics. Same principles, but no rotten animal smell for critters to dig up.

Alfalfa meal, soybean meal, ect. for the N instead of blood meal.

Soft rock phosphate instead of bone meal

Kelp meal just isn't that smelly.

Have you considered vermiculture or guano? Worm castings are great, low odor and it is almost impossible to burn your plants (in my experience). I have not used guano but from what I have read it is equally as effective. Also, I believe that if you were to 'cure' your soil prior to planting ie; mix all ingredients and then cover and let sit under the hot sun for about 4 weeks. This process allows all ingredients to further compost and release their nutrients into the soil. This process also reduces the smell of the additives drastically and the finished product smells like dirt and only dirt. Hope this helps a little.

proper way to place fish and blood and bone in the ground 6 weeks before planting. also give the animals something better to eat farther away. or put hot pepper dust all over the ground. i grow about 30 hot pepper plants ever year dry them in a dehydrator and crush them up just for that.

i mix my soil 10+ weeks before in contractor garbage bags and let the bone meal and organics break down.

Yes i second that, worm castings and bat guano are a must, like he said hard to burn but still great ferts that will feed the plant, last year i used bat guano, worm castings, and fish emulsions in the water and it worked amazing.... got an 8 ftr

Thank you all for responding. I think the idea of letting the soil sit is a good idea but, will all the nutrients leach out and be wasted before i put plants in? Also, its pretty cold still, dont you want the soil to get hot when its sitting?

I think im gonna look into worm castings for the N. Rock phosphate though... Ive never heard of that. Should i look into it and some type of potassium alternative rather than the blood/bone meals?

Also, will i be adding the "flowering" nutrients when i mix the soil or do i add that to the holes later in the season?

I have never grown outdoors but i once read somewhere that slugs cant cross copper so you can make squares with copper plumming and elbows. And for the larger animals i heard you can order panther urine. apparently and obviously nothing in the outdoors will go near panther urine.

slugs suck. i had them clean every leaf off my plant in 3 days one time. get slug bait i throw it all over in june and again in august. i go all over not around my plants. i havnt seen any in yrs.

Heres how to stop the digging. You lay chicken wire on the ground. Cut out holes for the plant. Use landscaping staples to hold it in place until it settles. Letting the ingredients cook does help but animals will dig. This will stop it. Its an old trick used to stop squirrels from digging up. I've not grown MJ outside but if I did I would inter-plant with herbs to help keep bugs away just like I do with vegetables. Dill, rosemary, mint, there are many her.bs which many bugs do not like

either get some land mines or use blue mountain organics. no smell, 100% pure and simple to use. find them on ebay.

Please, for fuck's sake don't use panther urine, fox urine, wolf urine, coyote urine, etc. How do you think they get that shit? They keep a majestic animal in a tiny, miserable cage with wire mesh floors that cut into its paws. It's cruel beyond measure. Dope growers, especially organic growers, ought to have a better reverence for nonhuman life.
