Not sure how "mechanical" you are, so cannot tell you what is easier. There are lots of "start up" guides available on the internet, though you might want to get a book like "Marijuana Horticulture" or similar. This will give you the basics to getting your plants to perform.
As for method, IMO soil is the way to start. Very forgiving as it acts as a buffer to mistakes you might make in fertilizing. Hydro or aero are more advanced techniques that require at least a basic understanding of "plant speak". Of the two, hydro is probably the easier to set up initially. An ebb and flow table will give your great results and will help you to understand how it all works with the safety of being able to hand water (or flush) should the need arise.

You will probably need around $3k to $5k for a set up that will produce that much, that fast
Then you will need to germ, veg and flower unless you get clones plus setup, electric bills, water. Once you harvest you will need another 5 days of drying and at least 3 weeks to cure. Add the cost of maintenance, time and you should be pretty close to your goal in about 5 to 6 months, assuming you have zero issues along the way.
