I want to know more about general horticulture

I've been learning a lot about weed cultivation, and I am just fascinated with every aspect. I am now interested in growing other stuff as well. I know learning more about horticulture in general is probably my best bet in getting better at growing things, but I don't know where to start. Can anyone recommend me some good sources, especially audiobooks, podcasts, or youtube videos I can listen to during my long commute? General plant or advanced weed-specific stuff is all good, as long as it isn't the usual rote bullcrap you see a lot of.

Start being ag/botanyspecific. If you want to avoid the faulty wisdom of the grow biz, dont search about weed. There are scholarly articles on plant biology, botany, etc...
Also, opencourseware allows you to learn what they teach in college, without the degree. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check out opensourceware. I actually am in college (not for anything plant related), I should've mentioned that as a possible resource. I wish you would have quoted me after I cleaned up my horrible phone typos!

Horticulture is amazing if you are in school you should subscribe to greenhouse growers magazine they usually require a "company name" which would be your college. Look for introductions to plant biology, often times schools will have course material available. Also make sure to look at where the publication comes from youll want to learn your area and the zone. Climate and temperature is vital to understand growing conditions and pests that are common in your region. Happy learning and if you have any questions I will try to help I am a horticulture major.

Teaming with microbes is organic based but with that knowledge you could use synthetics without over use.

There is a link on here somewhere for pdf of "Teaming With Nutrients."

The Adam Dunn show is a pretty good podcast to listen to on long commutes.
They get really stoned, get off topic & sorta talk gibberish sometimes tho.

Howard M. Resh - Hydroponic food production

Soilless Culture: Theory and Practice

These two are a good start if you are into hydroponics - witch I believe is the ultimate grow method (but expensive in time, knowledge and money)

I'm of the opinion that if you really want some added microbes in your soil, then grab a handful of dirt from the yard and toss it in the pot. Save yourself some money. They aren't engineering super bacteria over there at dudegrows.

There are some really good gardening shows on channels like pbs, and AM radio has several good programs as well. They are kinda thought of as "little old lady shows" but contain lmtons of great info
