I want to top this plant and then clone it, where to top?

So honestly I’ve had like 4 harvests in my lifetime, I’m still newer but should probably know this. I read a lot, but couldn’t find an answer I was happy with. I’m not worried about simply topping a plant, I’m curious about where the best spot would be to make the cut.

The “biggest” plant needed nutes or a transplant, so it got a little yellow but it looks fine now. I normally topped plants earlier then this.

My mistake...I was under the impression topping and cutting a clone were two different things. Carry on lol

top like above then when your plant gets bigger take clones from the bottom they seem to root faster.

Your weird ass title and first post make no sense in regards to cutting a clone, only topping.

you realize they are two different things and require cutting in two different locations...so are you asking where to top or where to cut a clone?

And for clones take some smaller branches from the bottom that normally just grow into popcorn buds.

It appears that you are are asking the right spot to clone your plant. You can clone the plant from any of the side branches that will eventually grow. You have had four harvest already, so should know somewhat how a plant forms.

That being said depending on how tall the plant is where I would top/ clone.

To fit properly in a cloning dome, these need to be about 6 Inches in height.

Some people take their clones smaller.

This plant was also topped at 6 internodes down because I let it grow to about 24 inches prior to topping. Anyhow do what you do..

The second picture is big enough to top/clone but the rest are too small. You can top the small ones and get clones from them later.

I would wait for one more node but if you were to top now it would be at the top. You can also FIM since they're still babies. I tried both and I like topping more but FIM is more gentle on the plant. The bigger one you can top/clone at same time.

I’ve taken some really small clones before.. but I’m not so sure you will have success topping and cloning the top that small. Give them a week, get them to at least this size. 3450FCD6-8219-419C-9C59-AFCADEE85256.jpeg
This was a side branch I pruned off the bottom.
this is the same clone now. I topped it a few days ago.

I suggest growing some material to work with. Also no less than 2 nodes, preferably 3 for clones in my book. That is nodes on cutting. LST or training tops starts after topping. Keep the plants below half your head room when topping the final time. Easy stuff if you let your plants properly harden or mature before hacking.

My thoughts.

@Kind Sir nodes are active growth locations for root development as well as leaves and branches. Their intro to darkness increases your possible root growth. Slightly over complicated basic clone method here in my journal. But pictures and basics. Honest best wishes and not hard after some plant basics and hygiene. LOL.
