All this for a Taco Bell job? WTF? Move on. Oh you'll never work for pizza hut, kfc or pepsi either since the are all NPC

See now you're still assuming. I never said why I left. I don't try to make excuses, but if you want to believe me I had reasons aside from the fact that the boss was a dick. The job that I took for the summer was 3 states away and I really never planned to return to that tacobell because of the bullshit I had to put up with for 8/hr.

It's funny, though. I didn't realize that the state I was working in had a minimum wage of somewhere around $6.50/hr so I was still making 8/hr. good shit man.

But to say that I'm not worth the 8/hr that I get paid...

hey you guys who went off about this and that on him..... you ever read the papers you signed if you worked at a fast food resturant? says in black and white "employment can be terminated by either party at any time", the store agreed to it to when they had you sign that you recieved the info on your workers rights from them. they are also required by the very paper they made you sign that a copy of the workers rights are posted in a place where any employee can review them. if they fire/let you go you because they dont think your doing a good job and its not working out do they give you 2 weeks notice? NO. so if he doesnt think its working out and isnt the job for him and decides to end his employment how is that any different? he is just exercising his workers rights. if he thought the other job would be a better career choice for him than his current job how can you say that its not a business choice? personal and business are two different things, your taking his business move the wrong way? he did what what was in his best intrest, as the business will do for itself too. you all attacking him on a personal level for it confuses me.......

yes you did.

I left for the summer to work on a farm for minimum wage
now take your time and try to find me assuming anywhere else before you pop off at the mouth this time.

why dont you get a real job? cruise construction sites and start asking if anyone needs a laborer...it could lead to a career in one of the construction trades.

those same papers say that leaving without proper notice makes you ineligible for re-hire.

the manager is hella bogus for the theft accusation, but he shouldnt get his job back.

thats what you get for quitting with no notice you P.O.$. Its ignorant people such as yourself that drives business owners, like me, and others bananas. Do you realize how much it costs in time and production to retrain someone to step into someones elses shoes that just felt like they got the shaft and quit with no notice.

You reap what you sow.
I know I was in the wrong for quitting without notice, that's a given. But that simple fact would not keep me for getting hired again.QUOTE]

Read that back to yourself really slowly. . .
Now, doesn't that sound fucking ignorant?
Walk out of my shop w/ no notice & I wouldn't even let you back in if you had cash.

Truth be told I have had to terminate two employees in the last 10 years - and both in absenstia (and not proudly), they simply quit showing up due to unresolvable and unrelated personal problems.
I currently have a good hand that has a horrible problem with alcohol - I've been working with him on and off for 6 months or so. Showing up drunk, leaving early & not coming back, lying etc... The last straw was his showing up plowed for the 3rd day in a row & I'd had it. Took him straight to re-hab & since completing has been very responsible & a good teammate.
Lastly, when one enters into employment with another you are (at the very least) in a verbal contract to give 2 weeks notice prior to leaving. I have a standing tradition here - show up on time, do good work & keep our customers happy & you will not be canned or laid off regardless of the economic climate at the time - period !
That makes me bad?

That wasn't the only reason, but it's ok. I have tried the laborer thing, but the job market is still kind of shaky. It seems like most places would rather hire someone older with more experience.

Working on a farm was a real job. It gave me 40 hours a week 9-5 and free room and board. It also gave me job experience like welding and other things that fast food wouldn't give me. But I'm trying to get my degree so it's hard to keep that up, especially in another state.

Alright, so I quit my job at the beginning of the summer. I left with no notice, just walked in and asked for my last check.

I came back home at the end of the summer and tried to get my job back, but the manager said I wasn't re-hire-able. That manager has since been fired and I reapplied. The new manager said he wants to hire me and to come in and sign paperwork(SCORE!).

But today I found out that the previous manager didn't write down that I quit, but instead that I was fired for stealing money. WTF?!:cuss:

So now I'm waiting to hear what the company says, and if I don't get my job back I am considering legal action. What can I do?

Sorry I never read whole thread but replying to OP.(Hopefully by now things are sorted, fingers crossed)

If I where you and in your position there is a few things I would do;

1) Is there any people still working there from when you where last there before you can quit who could verify to the new manager that you quit your job, not pinching money.

2) Obviously there is a new manage there because the old 1 who said you where stealing wasn't up to the job.

3) Show them the last pay cheque you got, as if you stole money the company wouldn't have payed you your last pay cheque would they.

So to sum, try and get someone who still works there or someone who knows why you left, explain to the new manager well obviously the last manager who accused of stealing obviously up to the job as he would be still there. Try and get a photo copy of your last pay cheque, because if you where caught stealing the company certainly wouldn't have payed you.

Good luck bro, hope everything goes alright.

Thanks bro. That's pretty much what I've been doing. Talked to the GM today and he said come in in a couple days to start filling out the paperwork. Got the job anyways, that's interesting since some people here would make you think I'm a scumbag. Got to see a different side to the fun loving RIU. Anyways, :peace: and love

I think a lot of people take great pleasure in playing devil's advocate on RIU, glad to see you showed those assholes I just mentioned in the first half of this sentence.

I could say the sky is blue, and people would jump on me, calling me names, ganging up, and avoiding the argument, while trying to say the sky is red.

there is no verbal contracts, if your not in a union or bound by a written and notarized contract. you can quit at any time and also the company can let you go at any time. Its the way it is.
