IBoytritis - Does bud rot have a discernible smell?

Can anyone describe the smell of bud rot?

Ammonia when you open your curing jar.

I've never smelled it. The few times I've had plants that had bud rot I cut it out and discarded it. If I was to smell it I would be inhaling mold spores which is something I try not to do. I know that everytime I take a breath I'm breathing in mold but I don't want to breath in a concentrated amount of it which is why I've never intentionally smelled bud rot to know what it smells like.
