Ideal drying temp/humidity???

Currently drying the 2nd half of my harvest (I did it in 2 stages to get more mass out of some of the lower buds, plus 3 plants were ready 2 weeks earlier than the others). I'm VERY happy with the yield, but I'm a little "iffy" about my drying conditions.

The buds/branches are hanging in my walk-in bedroom closet, with a fan keeping air gently circulating around them. The temperature is a steady 78 degrees with humidity staying between 48% and 51% (according to my hygrometer, which I stole from my cigar humidor :bigjoint:).

I'm wondering if that might be a bit too high, or if it will just help insure that the buds don't dry out too quickly. I'm not in any kind of hurry, so if they take longer that is fine. My main concern is with the Colas from the tops of the plants. They are very big and dense (12" to 18" long and 2" to 4" in diameter). I know the smaller buds will be fine, but due to the density/size of the big 'uns, I thought I'd consult my fellow growers and see if ya'll think I need to look into a dehumidifier or something.

Thanks in advance for any input guys!!!!!bongsmilie

for best results drying should b slow. ideal air temp is between 65 and 75 degrees., and humidity from 45 to 55 percent. temp below 65 = slow drying, and humidity often climbs quick. HUmidity above 80 percent extendes drying time and makes the threat of bud mold imminent. temp above 75 may cause bud to dry too fast and humidity can fall below the ideal 50 percent level more easily. Temp above 85 causes bud to dry too fast and creates HARSH smoke! Always use a hydrometer and a minimun/maximum thermometer. Also low humidity causes buds to lose flavor and odor! hope this was good info and helps!:bigjoint:

Thanks dude!! That's exactly what I was wanting to know!! (+rep). I dropped the temp down a bit so now I'm maintaining at 74 degrees and 48% humidity, so all should be good!!!!
