Just installed the insulation and intake vent
Outside view of intake
Option areas for exhaust....probably the area on the right as it faces the house and you won't see the vent.
Looking out towards door
Intake still needs to be cut after plywood goes up
That's about it for now. It's a struggle getting this done between work, etc.. but it's coming along!

I am getting the material together to build one like this. I am going to put an air conditioner inside cause I live in the desert. It is like 115 degrees here in the summer, and I don't want baked plants I prefer to get baked from them. LOL . Mosca what are you planning on using for exahust. I was also looking at isulation and I see that you used R-13. I was looking at R-30 attic insulation. Do you think this is an overkill.

Use some womens tights. They're cheap and don't cut down the airflow.
Often hear about people using them on the intake fans for their pcs to minimize dust, so they should work, unless you've got something better haha.

The desert can get HOT! I would talk to someone who could advise on what R rating you would need for your situation. I'm fortunate to live in a mild climate but the summer's do get HOT and the shed will get the afternoon sun for sure. I think I'll be fine with the heat as long as I can keep the room exhausted frequently. My intake is 4" but I was told to run 6" ducting, fan and exhaust to keep that air moving which is really important. If the heat gets out of hand, I'll have to resort to a small a/c unit. Since this is my first venture into the "indoor world", I'm not expecting great things right away but am hoping for the best.

Thanks for the comments! The shed has been a "project" that I've wanted to do for some time. My budget has gone up as far as what I can afford each payday but I'm having a great time planning and building it! I was going to do the tent thing but had some wasted space on the side of my house and figured " what the hell " and that's where I'm at now.

as for the light blast when opening the door. id recomend cutting in some sort of sight glass or window, you can peek through to see if the lights are on., then just have something small in front of it that can be moved to see if the light is on or off.
it can be as simple as a small piece of PVC pipe, just long enough to penetrate the wall. leave the inside end open and put a cap on the outside end. then you can just pull the cap off and immediately know if the light is on or off. and only open the door with the lights off.

Good idea! I was thinking of making a small entry area with the black poly acting as a door to minimize light/darkness.

Sorry about that I was high.
Looks good man. You will have the lights on timers so you should not have a problem knowing when the light is on. But if you going to have the lights on at night you could use the plastic thing. That would be a great idea. I am sure the more you think the better the room will come out. The key is to think before you cut or spend to much money! lol. Looks like you are doing well so far.

wow. am i glad i saw this thread...im planning to build a 7x8x7 room in my garage.and was going to insulate and sheet rock the inside to. so you say you can insulate and then put plywood up instead, or that bathroom sheet rock ??

Sheetrock can make mold from the type of paper that is on it. That is to say that you have dont keep the moisture in check in your room. The bathroom board will not. It is all in how you use it as welll. If you put up plastic and seal of the drywall it is good. You might not have a problem at all it is just what Could happen. There is a lot of ways to make a room. 1/4in plywood is not that high so that is what I would finish the room off with or some Reflectix. THe plywood will take paint or you can nail staple anything to it. Just how I feel about it.

Returned from vacation and am back working on the shed. All insulated and capped off with 1/4 ply to seal it. Had my electrician tie in two plugs and replace a faulty breaker.

Need to figure out my light, in line exhaust, air charcoal filter setup etc...
