If I grow poppies

can I move them inside (say a garage?), when I'm cutting for the latex?

I have privacy where I'm at, even a little in the backyard. But cutting for latex is what's going to make my poppies illegal. My bug guy sprays back there, I'm sure my landlord will at least walk past when she visits, and the neighbors house (a summer home) got burgled recently so I woke up to cops in my side/back/front yard (glad I wasn't growing my green then!)

Yep, not illegal grow them. I have several large patches of Blue Afgans starting up in my backyard right now. Just harvest them inside, and you'll be fine.

in my state has soon has you harvest the opium that is a crime..... anyway... noone prolly know wtf they are so go ahead and score them..... remeber to cut up and down when you score not side to side... also remeber they can be scored more then once.. like 2-3 times... every other day..... you planning on smoking this opium? if so your gonna wanna cook it, but you can smoke it raw it wil just have most dust, pollin, twigs, leaves, w/e on it.... but if you get it pretty clean you wont really have to boil it, and strain it

Sorry I pulled that from the definition of opium latex...

And I know it's not illegal, thats why I said cutting for latex is what will change the status of my poppies to illegal. You can grow them for decor all you want, but the minute you start cutting for the latex, they're illegal.

I planned on smoking it, as I've never tried it this way. Although now I'm reading that I need a shit load of plants to produce a decent amount of smokable opium.

grow a potent ass variety... persians, tasmanians, and turkish is prolly the best.... though they also have high yielding poppie strains, such has hens and chicks and some columbian hybrids.. these strains have more pods that are a lil smaller but you still get better yield...

Not trying to start a fight but you can call me ignorant but obviously you cant read :D I never said Morphine or codeine was heroine.

Look at it this way something that may sink your ship could float some one else's boat!

do only certain types of poppies produce opium? i was at home depot the other day getting morning glory seeds and i saw some oriental poppies. do these produce opium?

u cook raw opium and filter it.... in agfhanistan and s.e. asias it is done in many 55 gallon drums...then you take the opium and make whats called morphine base.... this is usually a brown color. some people refine this again to make a whiter morphine base..... then that same mophine ir turned into either number 3 heroin... {smokers and shooters dope} usually a brown to black color, or number 4 heroin {white to grey to lightly brown heroin} the differece in the manufactureing of the two is by the chemical u use to convert the morphine to heroin, and th en how many times u refine it... but the reason i quoted you was heroin and morphine are very alike. heroin breaks down to morphine in your blood. they produce the same high, only heroin will hit you faster then morphine, and creat a quicker rush... bottom line its all bad for you. you can even become addicted to smoking opium....

he's right.. i do roxicodones.. and its a life threatening drug..
i had to get treatment
